Let's say that I'm a boxer who has an upcoming match against a Muay Thai fighter. I'm only allowed to use my boxing, so no kicks, no elbows etc. What advice would you give me?

I'd say one of the most important things is to learn how to break out of a clinch or defend yourself in one, muay thai clinching is a little bit different from boxing and is probably one of the more dangerous aspects of it.
Another very important thing is to learn how to defend against kicks, particularly leg kicks because high kicks shouldn't be too hard to avoid if you got boxer reflexes and front kicks are mostly to keep people at a distance or measure distance or knock you off balance, but i heard leg kicks work very well against a boxer's stance and you will end up completely losing your feet and falling over lol.

Hi bud.
If he throws round kicks throw punches at his face.
If he throws push kics to keep you away as you come in with a jab cross just take em smother them and keep comming foward they arnt that damaging.
Once in punching range try to take him out ASAP no boxing here just aim to decimate when you are lucky enough to be in your range, Muay thai guys cant punch for toffie.
If he clinches you push him away push up on his chin to push him away so you get back into boxing range. Or if you are into spoiling go for the head butt accidently on purpose before pushing him away.
In the early days of kickboxing there was a rule that you had to throw at least 1 kick because boxing was so dominent over kicking.
In muay thai they give you more points for kicking elbows and knees than they do for punching because punching is the most effective thing in muay thai thats why they lowed its point value because the people wanted to see more elbow knee and kick KO's.
In short keep in your range.Last edited by AlexKid; 04-06-2013, 04:45 PM.

most boxers are easy targets for low kicks. so move fast and attack with series, don't try to box him.
