well it went good. i went in there they showed me to a trainer who pawned me off on to a kid who told me to jump rope then after about 10 minutes of that i went and found him he took me to the trainer who had me wait around for 10 minutes then pawned me off to another kid who showed me in 3 minutes how to hit with the right and left hand while moving forward and left me in front of the mirror. the only other female that goes to that gym came up and said just stick with it and in a couple a weeks a trainer will start training me she said females usually come and go so they are a little more apt to leave you alone. but she said just come and jump rope and get in front of the mirror, my arms are sore im outta shape , but i was wondering if i should try the speed bag. i was tempted today and also do you guys know of a good website or video that shows the proper stance as he didnt really show it to me right and i dont want to get bad habits. sorry for the long topic, just got back and i have to say i love it even thou i didnt really get shown hardly anything yet. i think i will really love it.

NO....no need to get on the speed bag yet....everyone wants to learn everything in a day...that pisses lot of trainers off...get the basics down first...the Jab...and mayb the right...hell i know pro's whom started off for 3 months str8 in a mirror for the whole time in slow motion goin over the jab...after those 3 months..they got to throw the right hand for 3 more months....ONLY after that did they get to really start...most of us trainers like said...see people come and go quickly...its not till we see dedication that we are going to waste our precious time helping one.....so stick w the basics in the mirror...dont act as if its boring....practice the perfection on those one or two punches...

Stance
Like everyone is saying, get the basics down. For your stance, stand straight, feet about shoulder width apart. For Orthodox stance, take your right foot and take one step back, keeping the same shoulder distance. If your left handed, southpaw stance is left foot back. Bend at the knees so your weight is balanced equally. You want to make sure you're balancing your weight on the balls of your feet. Your fists should make your fist so that your thumbs come across your pointer and middle finger (tight). Keep them up to your temples. Elbows kept close to your ribs. Shoulders relaxed. Practice that stance in front of a mirror, and balancing your weight, keeping your hands up. The next thing you should work on is movement. Once you realize your legs/hips are going to be the driving force behind your punches, then it will feel natural, and you can start to work on jabs, hooks, etc.
These are rule of thumb basics, and as you get used to the stance, you should adjust yourself to your own style and comfort.
