    Making weight

Just curious as to how you amateurs and pro's go about "making weight". I normally weigh about 160-165 when I'm in good to pretty good conditioning. Is it possible to drop an extra 10 lbs to make weight for welterweight and not be hindering my energy and power? What exactly would one eat the week of the fight and what would one eat after the weigh in to regain the weight as healthy and fast as possible?

Your best bet is to train your ass off, watch what you eat and to fight where you are comfortable. Trust me on this.......Rockin'

I agree completely with this, but I guess what I meant to is say after busting my ass til I'm in great shape and say i have about 7-9% body fat, I'm sure there's a way to decrease your caloric intake a few days before a fight to maybe lose an extra 4-6 lbs or so to get to the lower weight division. If I'm able to get to 157 by busting my ass, those extra 5 lbs lost in a few days may sacrifice a little power and energy, but the added edge for being in a lower class may make a world of difference, know what I'm say Rockin? What have you noticed in your real world experience.

Honestly, it's better to fight up a class than to go overboard making weight in the amateurs. I learned this the hard way, but will not make the same mistake.

How long after weigh-ins are fights usually held in the amateurs?

Same day, as little as a couple of hours before the fight.
