I boxed all my teenage years as a schoolboy ...now in middle age (36) i thought i would do something differnet than just boxing alone ..
I've been training BJJ for a few months.
About a month ago, I began experiencing persistent elbow pain that hasn't gone away.
I did used to get it when i was boxing in my teens ..but now its even worse when grappling
Is it old age lol ??
First it was my right, and now it's both elbows. It affects my MT pad holding if I'm not careful or someone throws a sloppy technique, and even a hard (arm wrestling) handshake will sometimes make me wince.
I assumed it was a noob thing similar to sensitive shins after a long break from Muay Thai, and I hoped it would go away as I trained longer and strengthened my joints, but as I ask advice from more experienced guys, I'm discovering that it's just part of the sport.
Is this mostly true and does it mean BJJ guys are prone to arthritis later in life? Maybe I’m just old.
As background, I'm 36 yrs old and not in bad shape !
I realize R&R is best, but I'd hate to lose momentum right now. Any advice?
I know this is a boxing forum...just thought this is where i would ask as this is where my roots lie !
