Elbow pain during and after training !?

I boxed all my teenage years as a schoolboy ...now in middle age (36) i thought i would do something differnet than just boxing alone ..
I've been training BJJ for a few months.
About a month ago, I began experiencing persistent elbow pain that hasn't gone away.
I did used to get it when i was boxing in my teens ..but now its even worse when grappling
Is it old age lol ??
First it was my right, and now it's both elbows. It affects my MT pad holding if I'm not careful or someone throws a sloppy technique, and even a hard (arm wrestling) handshake will sometimes make me wince.

I assumed it was a noob thing similar to sensitive shins after a long break from Muay Thai, and I hoped it would go away as I trained longer and strengthened my joints, but as I ask advice from more experienced guys, I'm discovering that it's just part of the sport.
Is this mostly true and does it mean BJJ guys are prone to arthritis later in life? Maybe I’m just old.

As background, I'm 36 yrs old and not in bad shape !
I realize R&R is best, but I'd hate to lose momentum right now. Any advice?
I know this is a boxing forum...just thought this is where i would ask as this is where my roots lie !

You may be having your problem from arm bars.

I practiced at judo for seven years, and I am a little bit double jointed in the elbows. So arm bars did not really hurt me that much but after a few years they started to bother me a bit.

Don't even wait for a little bit of pain before you tap when practicing. I used to wait for a little bit of pain when someone was practicing arm bars on me. Just to make sure their technique was good. But after a while I said screw it. Word of advice don't sacrifice your elbow joints, tap before your arm is extended. I think it causes some damage to the joint. You don't realize it right away but it seems to accumulate.

Also if you have a hard jab and cross, those punches can cause problems when you shadow box.

You have one what would call a TENNIS ELBOW.

Or a overextended elbow. You may need to change your punching technique while throwing that jab, as you're probably overextending the elbow, and snapping it too much.

Hyperextending your eblow sucks and that is something that not only takes a long time to heal, it takes hard practice to build it back up.

Stretching it is a pain in the ass as well.

I am very quick and use to over extend all the time when I snapped punches. I tried my damnest to stretch it but I couldnt. I found the best thing for me was to sit on the bike for 3 rounds prior to my work out and stretching and peddle, and throw LIGHT punches during this(No breaks).

I still do it from time to time, just perks of the sport. But it is less often and less painful.
