Creatine Question

creatine isnt just for bulking up if youve done your research. its also burned as a form of energy which helps increase endurance and recovery time. honestly you dont have any reason to take creatine at the moment. you gotta get your diet in order, make sure your rockin that cardio atleast 30+ miles a week, and your weight lifting routine is working all your muscle groups and your in the right rep and set range. not saying your trying to be one but body builders go for 8-12+ reps per set and thats from ronnie colemen himself. i like doing 4x10 on all my lifts and i usually use the most weight possible to where i struggle with the last few reps on the last set. once i get some what accustomed to the weight then i go up. since im not a big eater im never really going to bulk up. lean muscle is all im after. no point in my opinion in putting on bulky muscle especially for boxing or just functionality in general. do your diet, cardio and lifting properly and i bet you could lose that same amount of weight in a little over a week but thats only if everything your doing is right. goodluck

Quote Caeser
'don't take this **** creatine or protein or else "doping" stuff just train and eat good'
I tend to agree with Caeser in most respects.
Theres no two ways about it, certain suppliments in correct doseges, with good training can give performance gains, some quite startling. I've seen weightlifters seriously boost performance with creatine, its almost unfair compared to non creatine users! But the athlete has to know that it is the suppliment as well as the training that is providing the performance and that stopping using the suppliment will often result in reduced performance.
Even though suppliments like creatine are legal, I do understand the "doping" mentality. It is an unnatural/artificial way of potentially boosting performance even if it is an animal derivative and its not inexpensive either. In my experience of training in gyms over the last two decades I've found many creatine users to be those who want quick results in minimum time, with minimum effort and personally as a guy who does things the natural way with good diet and hard graft I dont have much time for it. Its the sort of attitude that professional athletes have if they ever turn to anabolic steroids.
I do realise that there are creatine users who train very seriously and may be offended at this, I'm only commenting on what I have observed and good luck to you.
Now in respect of professional athletes I'm rather more forgiving. These are guys who really are hitting peak performance through dedicated guidelines and serious effort, where milliseconds count. It is almost their responsibility to extract maximum performance legally and their athletic success determines how they make a living.

Hi Phenom, although it was not me who made the post originally I do see Caeser's point."Doping" is obviously an exaggeration, but I see the thinking.
You are quite right in saying that creatine can be found in in red meat etc but what you buy is clearly concentrated and an unnatural way of getting it into you. If you take it correctly the performance benefits greatly outweigh eating steaks as an alternative (although its every bit as expensive!), but when you stop taking it the drop off in performance/improvement trails off fairly quickly.........I've seen it with people I've trained with, it can be quite startling in terms of performance and physique.
Saying that it is "natural" doesn't really cut it with me either. You could argue that testosterone, growth hormones and our bodies own steroids are "natural", but to fiddle with these would give an athlete an unfair unnatural advantage, it is also illegal in competition terms. Same with high altitude blood doping, I suppose you could argue that it is still your own natural blood, but its an unnatural way of boosting performance.
As I've said in my previous post, I'm less critical of professional athletes taking the likes of creatine, but I suppose I am a bit critical of the casual gym user taking it.

For creatine strength, say an person with a perfect replica took creatine and lifted and the other lifted w/o it. Its possible when coming off creatine to lose some strength but the strength you are left with would be more than the person who did not take it all, that seems to be the case/consensus at least. It is an unnatural way of getting it but then it would seem that you wouldn't want to use protein supplements either. Supplements allow you to get what you want in a concentrated form and for things like protein, without the unwanted extras (no fat and so on). I do however understand what you're saying.

i said "doping", because it is not quite possible to so much food as a creatine pill gives, thats why i said doping in the quotes, for me it is like cheating, i mean it is not so hard to build the body with protein and creatine and this stuff, i know surely it is not a doping, because it is not on the doping list, thats just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it, live your own way of life
