I mean 40 is the new 30 today.....30 is the new 20 so on so forth. Say you
turn pro at 25 years old after having say around 100 amateur bouts. At 25
you should be in prime shape. Say it will take 5 years to build a 20-0 record
thats taking it slow, Most fighters that are top fighters have about 30 fights
in there first 5 years against fixed competition, aside from the gold medalists
who get the big names much quicker. Ok so now you are 30 years old with a
20-0 record. If you have taken care of your body all this time and are in
great condition and have great skill level you will take a step up in
competition now its 8 rounders and once you are ready get some 10 rounders
in there. Say you fight 2 times every year, win each time you are now 33
years old and are 26-0. By now you are at least heard of by someone
hopefully and are offered a shot at somebody big, being 33 you are still
young forget what people say. In todays world 33 is young as i have said
before. There is so much technology and proper nutrition out there that you
should be able to stay young if you stay disciplined and follow guidelines you
set for yourself. To get yourself to 26-0 you had to be a really talented
fighter unless you fought complete bums. If you get a title shot at 33 be
damn happy because in my mind that is when you are fully mature and ready
to handle the pressure of this fight, Also having 100 amateur bouts should
play to your favor of experiance, unless of course your opponent has around
the same or more which is very likely. So who disagrees with me on this and
thinks it is better to turn pro much younger? and please give reasons.
