I coach an amateur boxer with a record of 5-1 all 4 wins by stoppage, last night we matched him with a lad of 8-4 and we taught him a lesson, all our opponent did was charge and hold (which he recieved a public warning for), going into the third and last i had him winning both previous rounds but told him to go out and take it to him, which he did, our opponenet started fading and caught several good shots. Barely 50 seconds into the round the bell rang.....The crowd fell silent, the ref looked at the judges, the judges looked at the timekeeper, no one knew what was going on and after a few minutes the ref signalled the end of the fight, meanwhile the opposition wasted no time in removing his gloves. I knew as soon as that bell went we were being stitched up. Sure enough they gave him a majority decision and there was nearly a ****ing riot. I heard later that the timekeeper was affiliated to the boys club but this was not substantiated. It made me want to walk away.

The sad thing is that this happens all the time..you always hear the line 'we were robbed' but the thing is it does happen a lot of the time..I could tell you things that have happened at our club over the years with fighters, but it would take me a day of clicking.....He's just got to get up and dust himself off now mate.

I'm a trainer myself, and it does get to you sometimes, but if I contemplated walking away everytime one of my boys got robbed, I'd be halfway to the moon by now. My point is, it happens. Sometimes a lot. If you want to last in this game, that is something you have to get used to dealing with.
