jus wanted to update. i been liftin weights for the past 3, 3 and a half weeks and i gotta say, i can literally "FEEL" myself hitting with more power, and i love it. i dono if its mental or not, but i can feel my punches jus creating that thud when they connect and its awesome and my sparring partners even said they gotta fight me different cuz i am gettin stronger. its awesome. this is wut i been doin, so far only 1 day a week and its goin fantastic

Clean and jerk - 4 sets of 4,3,2,1
    Snatch - 4 sets of 4,3,2,1
    Bench Press - 4 sets of 6,4,2,2
Dumbell Military Press (one arm at a time) - 3 sets of 6

every other week i'll switch up barbells and dumbbells.

.....question for those guys who are experienced. i got a fight on sept 19th, how long before should i cut the weights, like 2 weeks?

    thanks.

Only like 3-5 days to make sure all of your muscles are fresh and theirs no soreness.

Judging by your low reps I assume you're bulking? What is clean and jerk and snatch? Also, do you ever worry that the lifting slows you down at all? I've thought about lifting to increase my power but get nervous it's gonna slow me down and that it's going to be harder to make the weight I think I want to be at.

3 variants on the Snatch. This is not me.

Here is a guy doing a Clean and Jerk with 200kg. (Yes, kg.) He doesn't hold it for the regulation time, but who's counting?

That’s it, speed strength. Hit ‘em hard!

nah im not bulking, im actually cutting. i did alot of research on lifting for boxing and finally came to the conclusion that they wont make u bigger or slower, its all about ur food and ur boxing training. lifting weights once or twice a week wont effect ur boxing as long as ur working hard and doing plenty of cardio. if u want to hit harder, work on ur skills and ur form, but weights certainly will add to that nicely.

Finally someone understands that lifting weights doesn't affect your speed.
Also everyone knows that floyd lifts weights and it hasn't made him slow lol.

The clean and jerk and snatch are very good for explosiveness and burning calories. Sprinters, Baseball players, Basketball players, Football Players(American & Soccer) and numerous other athletes use them in their training. If you watch the weight lifters in the olympics they're far from slow when they're throwing those barbells up above their head.

Deadlifts are pretty good for power too, but make sure you're instructed how to do the movement correctly.
