if there is any demand i might post up a "87 consecutive behind the back power bombs" vid later this week...

just a little background... im 25, been training for 3 months now, havent had an amateur fight as ive decided im gonna get lasic before i start competitive fighting.. im 6'3 and 185..

at the very least you can get a sorry ass look at the best fight predictor on the site

    anyhow here it is...

At your height and weight it would appear that you will have the size advantage. It is not clear from the video if you are likely to have a reach advantage. As a matter of fact the video makes your arms appear to be a bit short, but that could be just an optical illusion. Reach is a big issue in boxing and it has to affect how you develop your style. If you are a tall man with short arms, you must develop excellent defensive skills. You may have noticed that tall men with long arms tend to be a bit sloppy with defense. They can get away with it because they are usually out of reach!

yeah, i can make 178 pounds without much trouble so thats where ill be fighting... so i should have the height on 9 out of 10 guys.. my reach is neither exceptional or unexceptional... im 75.5 inches tall and my reach is 76 from tip to tip... i def train myself to fight from the outside and use the jab a lot.... you dont realize until youre in there with someone good how subtle yet important defensive moves are, def having a much harder time mastering the slipping and ducking than how to throw any one punch or combination of them.

        76 inches?

On his website James Toney has his reach listed at 76 inches yet he has to wear a thick pair of socks to make 5'10" Muhammad Ali was about your height yet he had a reach of about 81 inches as I recall. Once you have to face some of these long-armed boxers, you are going to find out just important the reach issue really is. Clearly you need good defensive skills to survive in boxing, my guess is counterpunching will become an integral part of your style. Be sure you learn the basics before you commit to a style.

boxrec has toneys reach as 72.. my website can add 4 inches to my reach when the time comes... no problem there

ali was a heavyweight, im a light heavy

i am as tall and have as long a reach as antonio tarver and chad dawson, it is the norm for humans reach to be equal to their height... my reach is greater than my height by more than an inch??

          u just bein a **** or what?

I didn't mean to offend you. What I am trying to say is that the top boxers tend to have the longest reach. Boxing isn't a competition to see who has the longest reach, but the man with the longest reach tends to have the advantage. Sooner or later you will have to face shorter men who have longer arms, who also have good boxing skills. There is more than one way for you to deal with this problem, but you must be prepared for it in advance.

Over the years I have seen so many young guys lose fights that they might have won if they had been aware of the problems they were sure to face.
