    whats your stance?

Just curious, how does everyone normally stand here.

I used to stand very relaxed, I'll admit that my arms weren't always chin height but I snapped them up a lot. Shoulders were very relaxed and I stood a little more straight forward (as opposed to sideways) than I probably should have. I guess you can say it was more of a brawl type position. I was able to get lots of explosive punches off, not too great of a defense though.

Recently i've been trying to get out of my old (bad) ways and bad habits. I am now standing very much sideways, arms always at chin height and I bring my left shoulder up to my chin and tuck my face in slightly to avoid right hooks to the chin. It gets a little uncomfortable at the neck area though. Im wondering if maybe I shouldn't be keeping my left shoulder up as much?

Anyway, just wondering what everyone else here stands like most of the time in the ring?

Thats the way I would like to stand, it seems more natural to me and I can fire off punches much better but it seems like my defense would really be lacking. How does it work for you defensively? Hard thing to explain I guess, but i'd greatly appreciate it if you can give some insight.

bob and weaving, your offense is your defense and vise versa. The peek a boo style is used mainly for countering.u bob 1 side u have veverage to deliver a blow with both feet planted.

Thanks! Thats very similar to the style I used to use. Never really got a chance to test it in battle though, I kind of wanted to change to the new style (standing very sideways, left shoulder up, arms very close) just because it seemed better defensively but I am not liking it to much, just doesn't feel right for me. Your right though, I guess in a stance like tysons the best defense is just being able to fire punches away and also to move very quickly. I actually noticed since switching stances that after hitting the heavy bag, my outer-upper arm area and back of my shoulders seem to feel like they are stretching when I throw right hooks. When I was in my old stance, I felt like I was using my chest more to crush in with the punch. I have to say my hooks felt much more powerful this way, I also felt like I was throwing them from the hip more and getting more body weight behind them. Don't know if that was good or if maybe im just doing something wrong in the new stance to make my punches feel weaker. Need to get the time to get back into a gym, right now im on my own just going on some very basic stuff I was taught a while ago when I was at a gym.

About 167lbs with very little body fat (dont know exactly but I looked very ripped out...or at least I think so anyway lol). Most of my weight is in my upper body, very big chest/shoulders/back for my weight I guess.

On the outside Im a stand up boxer with movement. On the inside Im low and diggin hard to the body, ofcourse doubling up to the head when its there. Against Exige my stance would be directly above him looking down on him as he lays on the canvas with his eyes rolled back with the drool dripping from the corner of his over sized mouth.........Rockin'
