Amateur Debut in Two Weeks!?!?!?!

You might be able to last a few rounds hitting pads, but your inevitably going to be tired in your amateur debut just because of the nervous energy.
This might not even me an official amateur bout. Are you a registered fighter? Do you have a passbook? Even if it isn't an official amateur fight treat it like one. There is also a possibility that they might have trouble finding an opponent for you in this short amount of time. Anyways good luck.

I was 16 back then I do believe. I mainly threw one-twos. I remeber having him on the ropes in that first round and just going crazy for 5 seconds or so. I was scared and just fighting out of fear more than anything. The fight was kind of wild and more of a brawl. The 2nd round I began to have problems breathing, and by the 3rd round I could not take in air through my nose at all. I was about to die I felt. All I could do was throw jabs. I was never so exhausted, ever, as I was in that fight. Afterwards, I could barely hold a coke can in my hand due to lack of strength.
I won the fight by decision. Never again did I do a fight without roadwork.

Nice vid man, you seemed pretty quick back then.
Anyways to say what everyone else is, stamina, especially 'cause you haven't sparred a lot. If the rules are the same as here, you have 8 minutes. Maybe that doesn't sound long to you, but trust me, it is. Anyone who's been through a tough 8 min sparring session will tell you that it's plenty. And pace yourself. Honestly, if I go "all out" I can gas myself out in just the two minutes, and I'm in pretty good shape.
Also, don't get too nervous or hung up on the win, I've seen the better fighter lose plenty of times in the amateurs, it just happens.
In the end, YOU seem to think you're ready, which is the most important.
Good luck bro,
Trick

a fight in the ring is not the same thing as a street fight. There is no way you can even begin to compare one another. ur gym should have had u sparring a while b4 ur first fight. However, that is not the circumstances. just make sure u can last 4 rnds minimum while sparring b4 you fight in the amateur league.

I remember my first amateur fight, I was scared as hell. I weighed in at about 260 and the guy I fought was about 295 if I remember correctly. He had two inches in height on me (him 6'8", me 6'6") and he had a hell of a reach advantage. I got my ass kicked the first two rounds but then I came to the conclusion that since I was still standing, I could box with him and then came the third round where I KO'd his ass in the first 20 seconds with a right uppercut. That feeling of the connection and knowing you just won is the best feeling I have ever experienced. The only reason I beat the guy was because he punched himself out and was gassed. Choose your punches wisely and don't throw any that don't have a purpose. Good luck man.

As far as the sparring and conditioning, I just sparred for the first time ever and we went 4 rounds at a high pace and I didnt get too gassed and thats with no padwork, no trainer, and getting off an 11 hour day at work with food in my stomach and very little conditioning trainin.
