A prime Tyson had quick feet as well as excellent footwork to manuever inside, as well as a very underrated jab to help close the distance. Not only that, but Tyson's crouching style would have made it very difficult for Lewis to land a clean blow on Mike. Also, when Mike got on the inside, he would have had some crushing blows to the body for him, instead of constantly head hunting like Tua did.

Tyson at his best was an expert at cutting down the space between him and his opponents. He had to be able to do that in order to neutralize the bigger guys jabs.
Thats wat made him so good. And wat he stopped doing against Douglas and Bruno. He became an easy target.

Tua is no prime Mike Tyson, that is for sure, hell the Tua that Lewis fought wasn't even a prime Tua either, at that point, he had become a fat plodding one armed heavyeweight. All Tua has is a left hook and nothing else.He hasno jab, no head movement, not so great footwork, and he was very poorly conditioned for that fight. There was absolutely no reason why he shouldn't have came into that fight at 225 lbs or so, instead he came in at about 25 lbs overweight. All Lewis did was jab Tua since he was too slow(from being out of shape) with too poor of a footwork to get on the inside of Lewis' jab, then on the rare occassions that Tua did get on the inside, all Lewis had to do was keep his right hand up so he can't land the left hook, and then tie him up.

Good point! I certanly agree with that. It seems like after the Spinks fight, he became very ****y about his power, and began just looking for the one punch KO more than closing the distance with his jab, as well as head movement coming in. He fought very straight forward at that point.

Originally posted by RAESAADGood points but we all have our own opinion and I still think a Prime Lewis would have been smart enough to beat Tyson one way or another.......But you are right it could have resulted in a quick KO for Tyson too.......we will never know. What I do know is when they fought they were relatively the same age and stages in their careers....one was good early and one was at his best for alot longer........Lewis overall is a better HW than Tyson was.

He was lunging in and not jabbing in the Bruno fight.
In fact i watched a few fights last night, from Holmes and Spinks to Douglas and Stewart. Although i have seen his fights many times, watching them last night he was really technically brilliant at his best.
He wasnt just a one dimensional KO fighter. He could jab and pressure opponents using his skills and attributes perfectly.
