Was he ever a truly top welterweight? He is super durable and game, but he is missing the extra oomph to get him important wins at 147.

These are my thoughts exactly. Did Spence not look quite as good as usual because he has declined or was it Garcia's hard body shots, counter punches and boxing skills that made Errol less than his stellar self.

I really can't be certain that Spence is the best welterweight but he very well could be. Danny Garcia gave him a very competitive fight but as usual Garcia is once again conservative with his punch output. Shawn Porter had a very close fight with Spence.

For me, the jury is still out on whether or not the accident has had an effect or not on Errol.

Brook hadn't fought since 2018, then came back in 2020 to fight a no name at 154 and then fights Crawford at the end of the year at 147. Brook was also 3 years older and was campaigning at 154, he had 3 fights at 154 before going down to 147 for Crawford. Crawford got a weight-drained Brook.

Spence fought a Brook that was 36-0 at 147. That loss was at full 160lbs vs the #1 ranked MW. Crawford fought Spence's leftover. Spence was the first welterweight to beat Brook.

I remember Manny hurting Thurman to the body and that’s Spence’s bread and butter.
And at their very best, Thurman is the best of those 3 fighters, but in recent years Thurman's head is not in the game and his body is falling apart.

Danny is a b plus fighter at welterweight but he’s tough as nails Errol is just a different animal and it is bad match up for everybody at welterweight including crawfraud

Tis fight lacked intensity & drama! In the final moments Garcia went for it but didn't go for it for more than a second throughout the 12 rounds.

This was a damn sparring session & a much needed 1 for Spence who couldn't stay focus & strong for 36 soft minutes.

Spence looked great for the opening rounds all things considering & going 12 rounds. But this won't be enough to beat a Pac, Porter, Crawford & anyone who is trying to hurt him.

Keep him away from the Charlos who would both send him out on a stretcher

                Spence stay ducking Thurman.
Now we at least have a name on Spence's resumè of a fighter he officially ducked.

I thought it was an impressive performance for his first fight back. He had Danny backing up for most of the night while walking him down with that jab of his. Moreover, I believe that it was the most punishment that Danny Garcia has ever absorbed since the Lamont Peterson fight.

Kudos to Errol Spence on his recovery, and win against Danny Garcia. I was totally wrong about Spence's recovery, and continued ability to fight at an elite level. I was also wrong about Danny being able to learn from his previous losses. He will usually lose these types of fights against elite level fighters in whatever division he decides to compete in. Again congratulations to Errol Spence, for his recovery, and warrior spirit.
