It wasnt a good look for Dubois, but Whyte getting absolutely flatlined by old Povetkin wasnt a particularly good look either. I think Dubois would have a pretty good shot at beating Whyte anyway, Dillian is nowhere near as big, strong and durable as Joyce is.

His corner should have pulled him out. The stream I was watching wasnt very clear. It was only in the 9th that I saw how bad it was.

Pulling him out would have done him a world of good, image wise.

Agreed. The corner could have spared him the embarrassment by pulling him out. I would have liked to see Dubois make one last stand but ultimately it’s his career and his eye. All he can do now is heal up and try to come back stronger. It will be difficult to shed the “quitter” label but that comes with the territory when you do what Dubois did. I wish him the best though and Joyce did a good job.

Yep his corner did act like amateurs, he was shaking around the 5/6th round. A little whisper to his ears would have been great for him. They weren’t calm themselves. Once the eye was shut they should have pulled him out so that it doesn’t look bad on the fighter himself.

He would get haunted by this, as he is a quiet and shy fella. His confidence would take a battering once everything settles down and he reads all the former boxers comments like Matthew Macklin, Haye, Carl frampton, allen etc saying he quit.

Whyte got knocked out a couple of times himself, but he's right, Dubois didn't have the heart to fight on. If you want to be a champion, you fight on, even if one eye is shut, that's what champions do.

There's no think..of course he did, I've seen comments talking about how he's still young at 23 and how he did the right thing stopping before he suffered a career ending injury. First of all Tyson was HW champion when he was in his teens so cut the he's too young crap and he could not know how serious his injury was. He's a boxer, it's not a game and the boy was not used to fighting someone who will fight back, you could see in his eyes that it's not something he should persue. He can keep fighting c level British bums but people should stop mentioning his name again then, look at real champions..Ali and Frazier nearly died in Manilla..it's boxing, he decided to do it then fkn do it till the end. I haven't heard for sure what kind of injury it was. Like I just said in another thread, if it was a bone injury, then you can't really afford to screw around with it. But I don't know how likely you are to suffer those from just jabs. Seeing as it seemed to come from an accumulation over time it seems more likely to me that it was just swelling, and if that's all it was, well, you just have to suck it up and deal with it. Other fighters have fought through much worse injuries and gone on to win. I'm not a doctor so I can't tell for sure right now, I'll have to wait for a medical report before I can realistically pass judgement.

Either way, yeah, this kind of constant s***-talking from Whyte is why so few people like him. Nothing positive to say about the winner or even the fight in general, just kicking a man while he's down and bigging himself up despite having been smoked in his last fight himself. All he ever does is puff himself up and talk smack, he's just got a really obnoxious personality in general.

I believe Dubois and theres nothing worth to lose your eye or vision. He s young enough to learn and come back. people should ask themselves now why they underrated Joyce this much. That should be the question...

He's awake...This man has NOTHING positive to say about his fellow fighters ...EVER. You would think he's a unbeaten fighter to be feared but he's not ....He's actually recovering from a brutal KO defeat to a 41 year old washed up fighter...stay quiet you c level fighter and stop blaming other people for your average displays., Daniel has a lot to learn and a very bad eye to nurse .He reminded me a little of the night when Watson stopped Benn with a jab after beating him up although Daniel was still more in the fight he was spent.Daniel will come again but must get a Jimmy Tibbs in there to rebuild.
