Smith's big fight here pays him roughly what Saudi blood money got him for the WBSS, right? Seems fair.
You're fooling yourself if you believe that nonsense, which is even impossible to be proven. How in hell would those fans be attracted to a guy named Canelo who only fights once a year?

Boxing is just a miniscule part of DAZN. A large number of its subscribers come from mainstream sport around the globe like soccer, cricket, etc. The attraction in boxing, if ever, would be the all-you-can-eat model, not because of one particular fighter.

In all fairness, many of the guys use “DAZN” to be synonymous with “DAZN USA.” Though one DAZN USA sub is in essence a Global sub.

But realistically this is how it works: let say everyday in the USA there’s an average of 2000 $20 buys/subs. That’s $40K in one day. In a month thats’s $1.2million. The metric isn’t far fetched. Let’s 2000 subs a day divided by the USA’s 50 states...that’s an average of 40 subs per state. Of course every state is different but you get the picture. This model would mean $1.2mil x 12months, that’s $14.4mil a year for general buy theory.

NOW! Here’s how we know DAZN makes mad loot. Let’s say a Canelo date brings 800k $20 buys. That’s $16mil. Now the traditional sense is that with PPV there’s no replay like today’s OTT technologies. Therefore, any person who misssed or was intrigued by the news of Canelo’s win would mean recurring buys throughout the month or whenever to SEE THAT FIGHT. We’re not even talking about the $100 buys. Apply this theory across all of DAZN’s sports and you know why they would buy $4bil for a German league rights.

DAZN makes money. It only gets politically boring when budgets are restricted by territory, regardless of Canelo is the meat for the USA market.

When boxing gains traction again, you can assume they make a minimum of $20mil a month in the USA. As the company grows it breaks even, easily, the investments they planned.

That’s how banks make money with interest for consumers with cards, spending. 24 % APR is badass for banks!

Given the times, how about sharing 10 mil pot, 80 to 20? Have the fight in the UK.
