But the commentators didn’t say anything and I think his opponent was 177 also. Maybe it was just the *****ed up 80s. It’s just something that annoys me is all. We deserve more as fans.
What year? Was it before the advent of cruiserweight?

        1. Haye survived Klitschko, didn't he? And he had a toe, lol.
        2. Hay had brighter IQ in the ring while Usyk just does what GREAT LOMACHENKO elder told him to do.
        3. Usyk was outboxed many times: Bellew, Briedis... But only his great stamina and cardio helped him overturn the fight.
Had Hollyfield and Haye received tournament like Ali Cup, they would both win it.
        Lmfao you Brits are hilarious.

If Haye gets points for “surviving Klitschko” then Usyk gets points for not getting KTFO by Carl Thompson

I'm from Ukraine, pal. Haye was 23 fighting Thompson and I will watch that fight now, thanks for tip. It says TKO and Haye was on his feet.

How did Usyk look at 23 in the ring though? In a helmet, that's how.

And Loma is the greatest fighter ever.

            Who am I missing?
I know you're being tongue in cheek - and I suspect the TS is maybe a racial troll - but the thing is due to the really brief time Cruiser has been around (it really only got going in the early 80s and didn't gain much recognition til later that decade) and the fact that for a good part of it's history it was really just a stepping stone division for guys on their way up to HW it's a genuine claim that Usyk could well be considered the most accomplished Cruiser ever. It's either him or Evander for sure and he made more and arguably better defenses and title fights with the possible exception of Holy's win over Qawi.

Holyfield was on staff, he is not a good example of anything.

His whole career was a cheating.

When Usyk was 23 he was winning a gold medal at the Olympics and World Championships. The next year he dominated Joe Joyce in the World Series of Boxing, who is a hell of a lot better than Carl Thompson.

And it was a towel thrown in after being KD'd a few times.

You fight very differently when you know your foe can't KTF you out. In a helmet like that you can be knocked by a liver shot and I didn't see that often in heavyweight.
\Most of Usyk's knocks out were of barrels of his punches where his foes actually weren't knocked out cold and were on their legs standing. I would like to see how that would go for Usyk with someone like Hollyfield or Haye.

Anyway, Usyk is one of the best cruisers, I can't argue that. I will just watch happily how fighters of Ortiz/Ruiz caliber will destroy Usyk, let alone Tyson Fury.

It was November of 1984. From what I read all the major organizations had recognized a cruiserweight division by then. This was Evanders first pro fight ( worth a watch ), no idea what sanctioning rules it had. But his weight went up each fight and LH was still stipulated for the first few. I’m not sure when he’s fights switched to “CW” but maybe that has something to do with getting ranked. It’s just one of those things maybe.
