DiBella was wrong, DAZN incompetent, Hearn the devil, what do Wilder fans say now?

He just made less than half the money he could have made, got his butt kicked twice, got a draw and a loss to show for it...not to mention the public image has taken a severe nose dive.

But certain posters, who are now mostly in hiding told me this was all good business, and Dibella needs to "know his place"

    Still betting on himself?

Hindsight is 20/20. It is also a bit premature to ask whether wilder made a mistake. The DAZN deal sounds great because of the way it reads in the media. The average of $33 mil a fight is big money, no question. we need to make sure it isn't a GGG type deal where a portion of the money is paid in stock options.

Had Wilder won this fight, he'd be in position to fight AJ. That fight might generate more than $33 mil. Then the deal suddenly isn't that great, especially since not only would wilder's purse be fixed (he wouldn't get a percentage of the sales he created) he also would be fighting AJ on dazn which is in partnership with AJ's promoter. That isn't the best situation for any fighter to be in.

You're a smart dude. You know deals aren't made by top guys assuming they will lose. They make them assuming they will win.

I doubt if Wilder won he’d fight AJ. There would be some holier than thou bullsht he’d be exercising. Probably ask for 60/40, has to happen on PBC. Because I beat Fury, the lineal champ you gotta bend to me. Almost certain some bullsht would come up. How Haymon crew operates.

You're entitled to your opinion. I am sure if you were in a similar position you'd be forced to think about everything involved rather than just the amount of money in the media.

boxing is all about control and they were never willing to give up control over wilder. they even made him lose tens of millions of dollars by tricking him. they wanted all the money to stay in house but problem is his purses were so high that they never made any money lol! wilder tanked pbc worse than the coronovirus tanked the stock market. its fair to say he is the coronavirus of boxing

You’re right and this is what a lot of people don’t understand about business.

Even Canelo’s deal, $300m or whatever it was. I think people here think DAZN are just dumping $300m into his account, no strings attached.

These kinds of deals come with all kinds of stipulations and clauses. In reality, these figures show potential earnings if all targets are met. DAZN is run by extremely successful business people, they’re not just throwing hundreds of millions at fighters. The earnings will be based meeting revenue targets, spikes in subscriptions around the fights etc..

It’s not just as black and white as what people think. No smart corporation works like that, they would go broke.

$100m or $300m is just a great headline, and leaves out the details because it makes the company and the fighter look good.

If you can't see Wilder's lying, cowardly and disgusting character at the moment - on full display for all to witness- there is nothing more to say. He is a liar who lied about his ducking AJ and who is not man enough to take his defeat properly.

He's ****** in the head. He should just man up and come back for more fights.

Fan need to stop talking about Fighter finances and focus on their OWN! Without the DAZN Deal Wilder is still making a lot of money! Thanks to DAZN it forced PBC/Showtime/FOX to pay him more

So yeah even without the DAZN Deal Wilder is still a very Rich Man

While the Rest of us are working a hard 9 to 5 and some living paycheck to Paycheck barely making it but yet want to try and tell Wilder what he should've done and for not doing something they would've blindly done without even knowing the Verbiage of the contract

You're a Brit so I understand why you are taking this position. We agree that his behavior since the loss has been immature and pathetic. That has nothing to do with this thread.

You don't make decisions about deals in sports assuming you will lose or get injured. You also don't evaluate decisions based on losing and winning.

We all agree $100 mil is a lot of money not to accept. However, as Hwt champ and potentially the face of American boxing as an undefeated HWT champ, Wilder could've made that.
