There's nothing wrong with submitting a fighter to an eye-test. Ortiz is objectively old. He has beaten very few fighters of note. On that basis, it's hard to see why he is ranked so highly by the WBC and WBA.
I agree with you that it's inconsistent; however, Ortiz is ranked higher than Pulev, it's a simple as that and fighting a ranked guy versus a non ranked guy should be held in higher glory.

I get what you're saying, I'm just saying that if Pulev was ranked it would be a different story to be honest.

Well, sanctioning bodies make up the ranks on a need-cum-commercial basis.

One day, WBA ranks Christian Hammer at #6 when they thought he would be fighting Kownacki. Then, when it became clear that Kownacki will be fighting Helenius, Hammer got dropped and instead, Helenius got ranked at #6.

And we have posters here arguing who fought better opponents based on their ranks by the sanctioning bodies.

No he wouldn’t , Whyte was offered AJ already and turned it down like multiple guys before Ruiz agreed to it, he was already in line for AJ .

Pulev was owed this already back in 2017 but withdrew because of injury .

Whyte defeating Pulev doesn’t change he declined the fight afterward from receiving less money in Bulgaria for a Pulev fight . It was obvious Whyte didn’t want AJ and was on record stating he wanted a few more fights but felt he could defeat Wilder .
