Who in your opinion was the rarer talent? Manny Pacquiao or Mike Tyson?

Hard to argue with Manny seeing as he started all the way from light flyweight.

But Tyson was only 5'10 in the heavyweight division and winning against fighters twice his size in devastating fashion. He was always giving up significant height, reach and weight.

    Who you got?

    44
    Manny Pacquiao
    63.64%
    28
    Mike Tyson
    36.36%
    16

Tough call. Quite equal in terms of talent.

Pac vs Druan thread is getting lopsided.

      This should be better hopefully.

I always thought Pacquiao was a global superstar for many same reasons as Tyson in regards to boxing style.

Tyson was more unique. Nobody has been able to copy his style and millions of kids around the world tried.

Pac was unique too. Don't know of too many fighters coming all the way from flyweight and being very dominant at welter.

Tyson and it's not even close...

Tyson for sure. He's just a more fundamentally sound boxer at an earlier stage in his career. Great balance.

Watch the 3rd round of Pacquiao vs Barrera 1, you can see that Manny pushes forward with the left when his feet aren't under him. It's very sloppy and if Barrera wasn't hurt, he probably wouldn't have gotten away with those antics to the degree that he did. Pac totally put it on him but he made some mistakes in there that his speed bailed him out of.

I think the only reason Pacquiao had success earlier in his career is because he was a quick southpaw. If he was orthodox he might not have even gave Barrera/Marquez/Morales tough fights, not to mention he had been knocked out a few times in lower weight classes to lesser fighters.

Kinda hard but again, im gonna have to say Pacman.

Look how fkin laughable Pac’s style was earlier in his career. His attacks were repetitive and amateurish yet his god given talent and reflexes allowed him to get away with victories.

As far as rarity is concerned, I think Pacman might be the rarest fighter of all time. His style is just too unique.

Exactly. Tyson had much more natural talent. Pacquiao learned from his mistakes and mastered his craft later into his career. Pacquiao is the greater fighter, obviously.
