Who in your opinion was the rarer talent? Manny Pacquiao or Mike Tyson?

Tyson was an automaton of rage and anger that simply needed pointing in a direction and unleashed. On pure savagery alone Tyson would’ve still had a great career as a boxer. Tyson before the weed was still scary as fk even when he was being nice lol. Manny found how to reach that next level over the years. This is nature vs nurture. Pacquiao evolved while some could say Tyson devolved.

LOL. Sorry but that's just not true. What made Ali immortal wasn't just the boxing it was what he did for society in general (conscientious objector status which led to his boxing suspension and it was a big point in the political climate of the 60's)

Pacquiao is now a major politician who is an Icon to a whole continent.

Tyson doesn't have the extracurricular accolades Pacquiao does.

You’re confusing talent with practice skill set/experience or training.

        We’re talking about TALENT.

Pacquiao’s career was obviously far more successful and HE’S STILL competing at the highest level at 41 years old.

Actually, yeah after recognizing that, it’s PAC.

Prime Tyson was a supernova. The atmosphere of his fights was fascinating, primal, terrifying, thrilling. A brief peak, but higher than anything Pacquaio ascended to.

I can't tell if we're agreeing or disagreeing. Or if we even consider "talent" to be the same thing.

I think Tyson has the much more natural-given fighting ability. He didn't have to work as hard to attain the skill level of an elite boxer that Pacquiao did.

Talent would be more in line with natural abilities, and Pacquiao is still performing at the highest level at age 41, that’s due to his remarkable talent, obviously.

But Tyson was only 5'10 in the heavyweight division and winning against fighters twice his size in devastating fashion. He was always giving up significant height, reach and weight.

                Who you got?

I'm not sure he was fighting guys that were 10'20. Having said that...Tyson was certainly more talented boxing wise....whilst Manny was and is the master of athleticism in boxing. He paved the way for fighters like Wilder who whilst unconventional uses God given speed footwork and power to achieve greatness rather than the conventional boxing skill set that Tyson spent years studying.

Achieving 8 division champion is the rarest of them all...

Pacquiao has adapted to a new style and has learned how to hone his abilities. Who coulda/woulda/shoulda...Tyson. All day.

Both real good fighters and once in a lifetime talents.

Biting ears off probably stacks that up

There's just alot of primal going on with Tyson that has nothing to do with boxing.

There's that time he would ask reporters to either shut up or fornicate with him
