Their livehoods and way of life were destroyed by incoming settlers who had an entirely different concept of their relationship with the land. Should those who live accross their traditional homelands now be expected to relocate and if not, why is there a difference in the two situations?

No worries. I can't answer about Israel. As for the indigenous Americans, I think they have every right to the land that was stolen from them as well. I honestly don't know if there is ever a legitimate timetable.
