Call me an alien but I have little interest in this match.

Oh other than a miscalibrated scale (not jumping to "rigged" conspiracy theories, but a slightly off calibration seems like an occasional inevitability) it really is the only explanation for that timespan. Just seems odd be wouldn't see to that business and do everything possible to naturally minimize weight beforehand, including a huge deuce, unless he was rushed, constipated, or just supremely confident he was well within the limit and there was no pressing need. I think these guys' teams all meticulously monitor their weight and generally have an excellent idea going in just where they stand on weight. He seemed genuinely surprised, but maybe he just miscalculated.

Not that big difference in size, Kovalev 2 inches taller and 2 inch longer reach.
It's almost the same as lomachenko vs several of his opponents. For example Luke Campbell are 2 inches taller and has 6 inches longer reach + a lot heavier then Loma

Kovalev usually rehydrates to 185 anyway...I haven't seen him go past that number, but he did look flabby in the Mikhalkin fight. I personally don't think the 10-lb rehydration limit.

Digital counter reads are easier to manipulate. Usually in these high profile fights Nevada uses analog. Even if it were miscalculated with calibration then it means Canelo really weighed 173.5, not 174.5.

Kova had to lose his necklace, briefs and probably pissed quick with various gag reflexes to spew out some acid juice!! all that should equal a pound easily
