How Valid Do You See The No One Watches DAZN Argument To Preventing Fights

Its not like Ellerbe doesn't have a point here, but when does the payday, a extra belt & a W people might respect more mean crossing over to platforms that do have less viewers for the greater good of ones career trajectory. Talking this specific situation &/or any situation cuz there are situations beyond this one or similar situations with varied differences.

It definitely seemed to be helpful to Andy who was nobody from nowhere to most people til he won a fight on a platform no one watches.

Just mad their PPV format will soon be antiquated. And for good reason, it's highway robbery plain and simple.

If Davis is fighting three times in a year, then he could fight once on an app even if there is limited viewership. Either go get that 5M payday, or give Farmer what he is looking for.

its up to the chest rubber to prove nobody is watching since he is the one making the claim, !

        zero validity

It's just an easy excuse for a lot of these guys to use to avoid fights or get them on their terms

If it’s an app no one watches, CBS/Showtime or Fox should be able to outbid them and end the argument.

But they don’t outbid them for some reason.

They are putting the business ahead of the fighters. The fans losing out but the fighters losing out too. Tank Davis got a lot to gain from fighting Farmer on DAZN and he can go back to the PBC richer and with another belt and a solid name on the resume.

Personally i think its an easy nights work for Davis, id just go for it.

If I was getting 5 million for a fight (and be my highest purse), I wouldn’t give a **** if no one tuned in for my fight.

Obviously the remark is facetious, but I think its a fact less people are watching DAZN then watching PBC fights typically. Or that can be assumed with the details of the biggest DAZN fights that DAZN has discussed.

Others more into the numbers can dork out on that & post specifics if they wanna. And sh^t maybe the numbers aren't even THAT different idk.

It's just an excuse. DAZN is a growing platform, it could fail, it could suceed, no one knows. At the same time,
Davis fights average about 500k on showtime. That's not the path to popularity either. At the end of the day, the boxer should pursuit the fight that makes the most financial sense.
And some of the biggest money maker in boxing (Canelo, Joshua and GGG) went the DAZN route, because it made financial sense.

Regarding obscurity, it's not a real valid measurement, but boxingscene is the biggest boxing forum as far as I know and the DAZN RBR threads most of the time have more posts than the other RBR threads. So somehow people are still watching those fights.

Beating Farmer on DAZN is better for Davis popularity than beating those cans at Showtime.
