Just because AJ had a rematch clause, it doesn't necessarily mean they had language in the contract that guaranteed they choose the venue..

That's why I would laugh at all the Wilder haters who would say "Just take the flat fee, if you win you're in control...". Yea, no.

The gate from aj msg fight was more than his stadium fights in the u.k and if dazn is also pushing to have fight back in u.s which is market they trying break ground in especially with no canelo fight in September now it’s going end up back in u.s

I have read this elsewhere as well. Don't ask for a source because i'm too lazy to try and find it but I did hear that Joshua has the choice of venue in the rematch clause. Ruiz should respect what he signed and knock A.J on his arse in Europe! Forget the judges, once he tags Joshua with a good right hand then it will be same old, same old again!

What does Joshuas stipulations for a agreed upon rematch clause have to do with a Wilder offer who was making a career high 2.1 million at that time and eventually turned down 120 million as opposed to offering a replacement opponent Ruiz who doesn't even have a belt at the time of drawing up the contract with the rematch clause terms that goes WITH the Joshua fight that Ruiz agreed to ? lol

Wilder's offers from DAZN were contigent on both him and A.J winning their repective tuneups. One held up his end of the bargain. The other showed no chin, no, stamina, and no courage. The so called 100 or 120 million would have went out the window! Joshua's rematch clause would have halted the whole deal!

Because he has a signed contract, he wasn’t a champion by mandatory position, he was hand picked as a voluntary, so yeah he can’t call the shots yet as afraid.

Exactly. He took the shot and signed the contract which included a rematch clause where Joshua has venue choice. Very common that champs insist on these clauses especially when the opponent is a replacement!

Not really bc at THAT time Joshua was dealing with Miller and would have never taking a chance with Ruiz on short training camp if he had Wilder on the contract ,they would have either went straight for Wilder which WAS an option or just waited out the Breazeale fight and /or pick a safer opponent then Ruiz and not jeaopordize Wilder .

See what actually happened was once AGAIN Wilder DUCKED Joshua because he was told to and give up 120 million to make 10 for Breazeale while not knowing Johua would lose ,meanwhile coward and contradictory Wilder went on national T.V and proclaimed he defeated Joshua bc Ruiz did ??????

Whatys real funny is Wilder has been saved by the bell twice and lost to a guy at 50% but you don't realize you make Wilder ;look foolish when you troll Joshua bc comparisons then have to be brought up between the two and then things like number of fights ,years and so forth have to also be brought up but you Wilder fans can t even do 2 steps at a time and it back fires on you daily.

According to Eddie Hearn, Wilder/Fury never happened and he had the contract to prove it.

                    Don’t believe promoters.

Honestly I wonder if people think these things through before they comment. "He's the champ, he decides and calls the shots", if that was the case why on earth would anyone sign a rematch clause, it would be worth nothing.

Seriously, does anyone think a rematch clause doesn't specify timeframe, split/fee & who decides location?

Ruiz / his authorized agents signed the contract before the fight, time for negotiations is before signing, did they specify rematch to be in the US or they choose location, no, case closed.

Now the rematch might be in the US if Joshua wants it there, but it will be their call.
It’s an appalling lack of education. You don’t even need to look far back to know or understand how this works. Example one (Whyte) who refused to sign the Joshua deal because even if he wins he has zero control in regards to the rematch (Joshua would). Example two (Rahman) even with the backing of Don King who we can say has more power at that time, couldn’t get Rahman out of the rematch with Lewis.

Ruiz had issues with Top rank and was on the shelf for some time, before signing got Haymon, after one fight he jumped the queue to land himself the HW title, this would have taken him 3 years to get to, this is why he signed a rematch contract that someone like Whyte wouldn’t sign.

The fact that he stopped Joshua four times doesn’t re-writes what the contract says about the rematch. Would he want the fight in the UK? Of course not and I don’t blame him, why would he want to leave his comfort zone? Unless the other team makes him do it.
