Comments Thread For: Dubois: Definitely a Possibility I Could Be World Champ in 2020

This past Saturday night, a new player entered the scene in the heavyweight division, when undefeated prospect Daniel Dubois (12-0, 11 KOs) knocked out fellow unbeaten Nathan Gorman in five rounds. Gorman did well in the first with his fast hands, but it didn't take long before Dubois made adjustments and scored a knockdown in the third.

No chance that he becomes world champ.

He had a good win, and although I don’t think he can be a world champ, if he believes it, and gets underestimated, who knows.

I don't think he's ready for a world title shot before the end of this year, but Dubois impressed me at the weekend.
I thought it would pan out in a similar way to Wilder-Fury, with the slick boxer leading the big puncher a merry dance for 12 rounds; but Dubois put on a mature performance and set up the big punches with a well executed jab instead of chasing and swinging wildly.
The next big fight at this stage of his career is surely Ajagba?

I think Dubois is a world champion in the waiting and his only 21 so hasn't reached his peak there's no rush. Tbh the heavyweight titles are tied up so realistically in 2021 would be his earliest.

Wilder fights Ortiz oct then rematch's Fury March/April then winner will have to probably fight winner of Whyte /Rivas.

If Ruiz beats Joshua again i think he will want to rematch Parker but if Joshua wins the rematch maybe he will offer Dubois a shot so get two decent wins maybe against Hughie Fury and perhaps Charles Martin or Brezeale then his made his mark but whatever happens the heavyweight division has become exciting again.

              No rush for him really.

The Gorman win was a good win on the basis of Gorman being a decent boxer with a bit of skill at domestic level, but it’d be fair to say Gorman hadn’t beaten anyone of note.

Dubois has a long way to go before he’s fighting at world title level. That’s not to say he couldn’t pick up a belt in some vacant fight against an easy opponent, but he needs to work his way up properly. He has time on his side. Imagine putting a fairly green 21 year old in with Fury next year, it would be a bad schooling, like Floyd v Canelo.

If the titles get spread out more maybe, but I think they should aim further out for Dubois. He's young as f#ck & could still use some seasoning & rounds.

So the question is twofold to me. Do you wanna keep the tiltle or fight for it? Or lowering the bar a little more do you wanna win the title or fight for it? I think the former in both those questions is the way to go & that merely requires an extra 12-18mos of time maybe & gives him a much better shot at winning & keeping the belt which should be the goal.

They shouldn’t rush him like they did with AJ, he is still very young. He should step it up little by little, to the Wilder 40-0 route then by the time he is 25/26 he would have learn a lot and be a beast.

If he will be managed carefully , he will be world champ in 5-6 years.
