It was screened by Sky in the UK, non PPV.

DAZN funded the fight, so I presume Sky in the UK and Azteca, etc, in Mexico must have paid DAZN some kind of licence fee for the screening rights.

It's impossible that someone is paying a fighter $35 million per fight only in order to agree to free TV rights anywhere on this earth ... that's why I was asking...

From I read, DAZN are waiting till the screening rights for Premier League football go up for auction in 2021 before thinking about a UK launch.

BT have the Premier League rights at the moment and Sky will be going all out to win them back. No doubt DAZN will be in the bidding too.

Personally, I can't see Matchroom UK shows coming off Sky and onto DAZN, but that's just a guess on my part. Whatever happens there, Fast Eddie, being associated with both outfits, will be ok!

... since you bring Premier League into the picture, I think that's much more at stake than "Matchroom boxing"...

Looking at those Mexican TV numbers, I would say that DAZN must have got a handsome free from that particular source. Not so much from Sky though, for a fight that didn't create much buzz in the UK and went on air at 5am.

Does anyone know how many watched the Canelo/GGG fights in Mexico?

So more Mexicans watched Canelo/Jacobs than Canelo/GGG?

That's a big surprise, of so.
