Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia is a Winner Regardless of Result Against Spence

By Michael Rosenthal - Mikey Garcia has already won. I would've advised him not to move up in weight to challenge IBF welterweight titleholder Errol Spence, just as his family members (including brother and trainer Robert Garcia) did. Spence's combination of size and apparent ability would seem to be too much even...

Mikey is my favorite fighter but this sentiment that he is a winner regardless is total b.s. and disrespectful to Mikey. Mikey signed the contract like a grown man and he will cash that check like a grown man, he better come to fight like a grown man too! I hope he wins but if he loses then Spence deserves all the credit.

I have so much respect for Mickey Garcia. Earl a straight up BEAST and one of the best to ever do the damn thang. Can’t wait to see this fight.

Best to ever do it? For doing what exactly? How many belts does he hold, how many top fighters did he beat? His resume is average at best.

What, already conceding that Mikey is going to lose? Crappy fight and is what's wrong with boxing. There are four or five "champions" in each division and the champions engage in crap fights like this.

But if Mikey gets KO'd in two rounds, he's still a winner. No way. He's just a fighter who sold out for the big pay day.

This narrative is so bull****. When Mikey loses, that loss WILL count on his record and it WILL remove him from the P4P rankings.

Another sanguine optimist whose reach exceeded his grasp.

So if Mikey gets knocked out cold, somehow he’s still a winner? Right.

Which is exactly the bad attitude that leads to these mismatches

Lets applaud mikey for getting koed instead of putting himself in winnable fights vs loma and 140 guys
