Comments Thread For: Thurman: Lopez Had Me Buzzed, He Had Me Shaken Up

Keith Thurman returned from a near two-year layoff to retain his World Boxing Association welterweight world title with a 12-round majority decision over Josesito Lopez on Saturday. America's Thurman, showing no sign of rust, knocked down Lopez with a massive left hook to the chin in the second as he controlled the early rounds. He weathered a storm in the middle rounds, with Lopez unleashing a fierce barrage in the seventh that had the champion in trouble.

We can be generous here. 2 years off and major injuries will leave a ton of rust to work off. No reason to doubt Thurman off this win. I am SURE that every active 147 pounder will call him out, seeing a beatable guy. Everyone will want to take the "0" off his record. But I am betting he can regain form in his next fight.

A Manny Pac-Man showdown sure just got more interesting. No way I would be Pacquiao over him, but the general public would sure tune in for it and make them both some coin and Pacquiao might think this is best, big fight out there if no Floyd rematch.

I would be interested. Fun action fight suggested by several other posters on here that excites me way more than most other options for the Senator.

Great way to shake off 2 year ring rust that's for sure

      That 7th round was crazy.

It’s great for him that he went the full 12 rounds, I think he needs another 2 tune ups before facing the bigger names at 147. But if the Pacman fight presents itself am sure he would rush into it.

He can't. He'll get stripped. Mandatory or unification must be next. tho I'm sure Alexander Bes***** will be like a tune up fight for thurman

Pacquiao Vs Thurman is a good fight, spence is just a bad style for thurman with his powerful body shots but I still think thurman on his best day is top 3

We shall see, when Haymon is in control then mandatories can take 2 years under these organisations.

remember after 1st Canelo-GGG fight some dumbasses were saying Golovkin missed 500 punches, well, according to punch stats Thurman missed 650 punches (247 of 899)! what will they say now)

Let`s not forget Collazo nearly made Thurman kneel years ago.

                    Spence stops Thurman.
