Then he ran into Vitali and it was all downhill from there.

Fat that you don't need makes you slower, and tires you out faster, and there's no way around that. You can look good young, but your body will pay the price sooner than later. Boxing is a sport that truly rewards professionalism. Just look at the run the Klitschko brothers had.
No argument, a young fighter will over time pay the price for not shedding excess weight and conditioning his body.

Many guys here using AJ as their reference point to back Kownaski for his indiscipline.

Kownacki is Bigbaby's buffet buddy. The extra layer of fat serves as a sort shield to dampen the blows. And so far its been working in their favor.

There have always been big men in great shape though. Ruiz jr is one of the fastest in the division, Miller is a high volume guy, hell buster mathis was 300lbs at the Olympics and he didn’t move like it.

End of the day, these are heavyweight boxers not fitness models. If they can go 12 solid rounds looking how they want, go for it.
If you want to be a gatekeeper by 30, I guess. I've seen enough Ricky Hatton types that didn't get rich to know that "do what you want" doesn't work. Klitschko bros, Lewis, Holyfield, hell even Foreman, all show that good habits will keep you at a high level and making bigger money longer. The oldest champions in history all had good habits. Today's heavyweights get to "washed" status pretty quickly.

Name another sport where top pro’s turn up looking like that. What would his power and movement be like if he came into a training camp already fit, why you making excuses for lazy indisciplined fighters

Half the people in American football (defensive players) are even bigger. Muscle and fat to get their weight up. And they use every pound of that weight. Don’t know about movement (though they’ve been this size their whole career so they’re used to it) but chances are they have significantly less power.

Adam, Miller and Ruiz Jr, have shown that they can go 12 rounds at high volume, so instead of calling them lazy, maybe you just don’t like the way they look?

Because Miller and Ruiz Jr. both have better stamina than Anthony Joshua does. If you like looking at muscles though, that’s fine.

Defensive players move about 2m per play, they need to be heavy and explosive..

Kowinaki is at least 50lb or more overweight, he is near the obese end of the scale...he would be so much more efficient with that weight off, try strapping 50lb to your self and see how your daily tasks go.

That extra weight is all blubber, it is dead weight and brings no advantage with it.

Out of curiosity are you heavy your self?

Not at all, actually. When I boxed I boxed at both LHW and HW (CW in the ams) but I’m also 6’4

Last time I stepped on a scale I was 190. I need to get back to the gym, but more because my muscles are looking soft just from being lazy after work.

And I won’t talk on Adam because although I’m a fan, his sample size is much smaller, I also ragged on him for coming in too heavy against Martin which I felt had him looking more sluggish than usual. I felt his 240 against spilka was likely perfect for him, and him and his trainers said the same thing and trained accordingly. If it was a laziness issue we would hear about it. Some guys are just built like that though, Buster Mathis, Andy Ruiz Jr and Jarell Miller (especially Miller who’s body more resembles a power lifter) were all exceptionally quick and in good shape regardless of their appearances. Hell, buster’s career started to go down when he started to lose the weight

This all goes back to what a lot of sensible posters have been saying about HW's needing to maintain size in order to keep pace with the even bigger guys that are over 6' 5".

Its no secret that 'modern smaller' HW's need to bulk out. That isn't going to change. I completely agree that if they can go 10 or 12 whilst carrying a little extra, who cares?

Fury isn't exactly trim, is he? He's #2 in the world.
