He will become a forgotten man without a legacy.
Holyfield never defended the heavyweight title outside the US. Neither did Holmes. Foreman had the one fight in Zaire for bundles of money, Tyson twice in Japan where he was immensely popular. On each occasion the champion was heavily favoured to win.
Fights tend to happen where the money is. Right now at HW, it's the UK.

Back to the post....Although obviously different weights Marvin and Ray were absolutely head and shoulders skill and ability wise to both Wilder and Joshua who should think their selves lucky that not even the likes of Bowe ,Holyfield , Lewis or Tyson are still around .I would favour all four to beat both of them with ease. That is where this is at ........disappointing without them not wanting to fight each other!

Of course most of these bums on here will attack Sugar Ray and get off topic AGAIN, suffering from dislexia. And thats because they are both ****** and ignorant and losers-LOL!!!!! But he didn’t say anything wrong. And it would be different if it were a fighter that wasn’t a global superstar. Besides, Joshua is a bum that just fights overseas anyways.

AJ doesn't need America and never will, HW boxing isn't a big deal over there anymore because American's don't have any decent HW's to root for. In the UK we support all of our HW's and especially the talented ones like AJ.

As a UK-based fan I've no problems with any UK fighter fighting in the USA or any other country from time to time; spreading the love to other countries does build global appeal just like SRL said.
What I don't want is for some of my favourite UK boxers to do a Lennox and become a Vegas boxer, the time delay is just too much for UK fans to be able to enjoy live fights on a long-term basis. In business, you don't forget your current customers while trying to seek new ones or your foundations collapse.
The ideal thing for someone like AJ would be to get back to fighting 3 times per year instead of just twice (I'd accept 5 fights every 2 years as a middle-ground), and fight overseas once per year - be it USA, mainland Europe, Dubai, Far East, or Africa.

Did you just call Sugar Ray Leonard a cherry picker? I don't care how much you like Joshua, that has got to be one of the dumbest comments I have ever heard. You can't compare Joshua's or Wilder's record to Sugar. Fought Duran 3x, Tommy Hearns 2x, Benitez, and Hagler who was a middleweight he fought after 3 years off. Ask Kell Brook how hard it is to move from welterweight to challenge middleweight. GGG was 34 when Kell challenged. Marvin Hagler was 32 when Leonard challenged and Hagler was a big favorite to win. What cherry picking are you speaking about??? Just because an ATG without the quotation marks says something you may not like about your favorite fighter does not mean you have to disrespect their accomplishments. At least "act" like you are a true boxing fan!!

We discussed boxing long before the internet came along buddy, and SRL was a known cherry-picker. Floyd Mayweather jr fought better opposition far more often and is known as one of the biggest cherry-pickers of all time
