ultimately it depends on the realistic opposition available for the rest of his career.

147 is a bit of a stretch, so if we take fighters around his weight currently, who are the best available? Mikey Garcia and maybe Tank? - does beating them warrant an ATG status? probably not.

Picking up belts in quick time is one thing but in the end it comes down to who you beat. Even Ricky Burns is a 3 weight world champ.

i doubt it, he doesn't have a lot of power to move up in weight, and there's not a lot of challenged left for him where he's at currently. the percecption iwl lbe that he was a 135 lber all along. in rreality he's a tiny guy who came to the pros fully grown and having boxed in two olympics.


i gues he could really surprise me and beat garcia or crawford, but that's a tall task. those two are insurmountably bigger than he is. garcia made 126 and 130 as a zombie. lomachenko walked around at the same weight as an amateur. and i don't even need to talk about crawford. he has grown into a welterweight with a dynamite chin and punching power. if lomachenko beats either we'll really have to evaluate him in a differnet light, but until then he's just goint to stack up wins against the jorge linares' of the world. good fighters, historically not enough to make a fighter with a short career into an all time great.

He already is.

Arguably the greatest amateur of all time. 396-1. Two Olympic gold medals amongst other innumerable amateur accolades.

Three-weight world champion in just 12(!) pro fights. Not just beating guys, but dominating them. Making them quit. Ducking nobody. Already fighting at a weight he doesn't belong at simply because he wants greater challenges.

And above all, he passes the eye test like few in history. If you look at Vasyl Lomachenko and don't see one of the all-time greatest to ever lace up a pair of boxing gloves, then you simply don't understand what you're looking at.

He is an all time great amateur, but that doesn't mean a ton when considering is pro career to most. He has the skills, I think he can get here, but he started his career too late.

And LOL at people saying he shouldn't move up because he might lose, don't people scream for fighters to dare to be great and take challenges? If he wants to move up to 140 or 147 to challenge himself, I think that increases not decreases his chance for all time great status. He started at 126, he's 5-7, 147 is the absolute highest he should think of going, but 135 or 140 shouldn't be a problem if he's got all time great skills.

Pacquaio went from 122 to 150. Mayweather from 130 to 154. Oscar went from 130 to 160. Personally, Pacquaio's best weight probably was 135 and he barely fought there. Floyd's was definitely 140 and he barely fought there. These guys went above their best weights to find the biggest fights. Loma will have to do so too to be an all time great.
