I just finished watching the fight for the second time and let me tell you it was a good body shot. You can even hear a little thud when it landed. In the replays you can see it was not a slap. Watching in real time you can see Hopkins putting alot force into the punch and then lightly hitting Oscar on the chin. He knew it was a good punch and turned to the ref to see if he was going to get the knockdown call. He did and then smiled his way to his corner because he knew it was over.

If you want evidence pointing toward the fact that the De La Hoya and Hopkins fight was not fixed, then consider the fact that Hopkins was the favorite to win the fight! So that alone rules out any betting motive for fixing the fight, you dont make money by having the underdog take a dive. Well maybe HBO or somebody who is looking for a star is fixing the fight, except that makes no sense- De La Hoya is the more popular fighter and the younger one by far, from a financial standpoint boxing benefits if Oscar wins- not Hopkins! Oscar still will be fighting for a longer time then Bernard- and PPV's will be higher when Oscar is fighting then Bernard. So aside from the fact that a smaller weaker man was knocked out by a shot from a larger and stronger one, I ask- what evidence is there pointing to a fix?

          if the fight was fixed
it would have been Hopkins goin down
why the *** would you fix it so the underdog loses?
          makes no sense
you guys are idoits who say th shot didnt land clean
it doent matter that it wasnt a "clean" shot
          watch it again
its not just that it landed in a great spot
Hopkins jumped in with his hole body weight
it doesnt matter if it wasnt hopkins strongest shot
all that matters is that DLH couldnt handle it
          and im a DLH fan]
he just got to ambitious like hopkins is getting callling out Jones and Tarver

all this talk about jones and tarver is exactly what was going to happen when nard beat dlh. but why ??????? why is money the dominant decider in boxing these days, thats the reason the sport isnt as big as it used to be, and for as long as money controls it, it never will be that big again

hopkins is calling out for these two for his big pay day (which fair enough he does deserve) but doesnt he realise that he doesnt stand a chance against these two

fighters should be fighting opponents who are level pegging or wanting to fight to climb the ladder, jones wanted to fight tyson, not that long ago either, just cause it was a big money fight, now hes going to drop down to middleweight to fight hopkins ????

It may have been fixed. Oscar De La Hoya letting Hopkins knock him out gives Hopkins chances now to fight Jones and Tarver. Knocking out De La Hoya has made Hopkins greater. Anything other than knockout would have hurt Hopkins' chances of fighting Jones or Tarver. Oscar De La Hoya still has great fights in his future still despite losing. But, if Hopkins had lost, his career would have been over. It may have been fixed. I think Oscar De La Hoya getting knocked out by being hit in his body was strange.

Everything you just said is not true. First Oscar losing by knockout doesn't help Hopkins chances for a fight with either Jones or Tarver those fights were on the table before the fight even happened. If anything it only helped him secure more money for either fight. Hopkins legacy would of been enhanced even if he didn't knock Delahoya out. Oscar will always have fights because he is still the money man in the business. If Hopkins lost he would of been set back but he still would be considered a great middleweight. Anybody can be knocked out by a good bodyshot especially one that is in the right place. It doesn't matter if it's Delahoya, Hopkins, Jones or Tarver anyone can be stopped with a good bodyshot.

think about this, hopkins was a big Fav in this fight vs DLH, KO DLH gives him more and better odds of beating DLH a 2nd time if they were to ever meet again, how many people do you think will put their money on Hopkins the 2nd time around? This is one way of Vegas,Hopkins and HBO to all make a huge payday. But I dont think it was fixed. But then again I dont know boxing

am not saying that it was fixed. but knowing the trend in boxing, we should all understand that it is not impossible to have that fight fixed.

many fighters had been hit to the body many times but does not easily KO'd. its usually more of a lucky punch.

nothing is impossible to boxing nowadays. that's why to bigsmooth,if you realy know the boxing credibility, you would say its not a good idea to bet your money.

I think Oscar and Hopkins have to much pride in themselves to want to have a fight fixed no matter what money.
