The win over Wladimir is vastly overrated, but unifying three of the four heavyweight titles in so few fights makes AJ an all time great IMO.

I do think you should consider referencing either TBRB or Boxrec rankings instead of Ring. I know you're just copying Hearn's IFL script word for word and Hearn says Ring, but since Ring was purchased and corrupted by Golden Boy Promotions, it doesn't make any sense anymore to point to it as an independent arbiter.

Fair enough. We'll agree to disagree on the Wlad victory.

I'm not actually following any script but take your point about Ring. TBRP would make it 4 of the top 10 for AJas they have Takam listed, Boxrec it would remain 3. Wilder stays the same on 1 with his Ortiz win.

Wlad was a great win for someone with so little experience. I was rooting for AJ and very happy that he won. It does seem though that his fans treat the victory as if he beat Wlad to become champion, ignoring that Wlad had taken 18 months off after a humiliating defeat and didn't look good in his most recent victory before that.

Still a ballsy test for AJ. Full credit to him. I just don't consider it a win over the best fighter out there because between Wlad's layoff and loss, I didn't consider him one of the very best anymore.

AJ has a great resume for his level of experience. Much better than Wilder. But Wilder does deserve credit for beating two consensus top 4 fighters. AJ hasn't faced a consensus top 4 fighter before. Povetkin will be his first one.

The fact that threads are being made about Promoters now just as much as Fighters...That Is A Problem! Promoters are the ones stopping big fights and holding them hostage. Eddie seems more willing to work with everybody compared to Arum and others but still too much focus on Promoters. I don't watch boxing for the Promoters, I've never turned in to see a Promoter.

Because of the internet and social media, fans are becoming more educated about why fights do and don't happen.

Boxing has no centralized set up. Promoters have to be very careful about keeping things in house or they risk getting pushed entirely out of the business.

A decade ago, Showtime was totally controlled by Gary Shaw. Now Gary Shaw is essentially out of business. All it takes is for one or two fighters to lose a non-in house fight and your entire business can collapse if you aren't extremely careful.

Well, that's because whether you like it or not, promoters are a HUGE factor in boxing. This isn't like the UFC where damn near every top MMA fighter fights under that banner. Essentially you have Hearn on DAZN, GBP on HBO, TR controlling ESPN and Haymon on SHO. The thread I made was perfectly legitimate and fair. Hearn is trying to become a big factor in the US market but he will be facing some issues that I pointed out. What's wrong with that? As a guy in the US and a fan of boxing, what Hearn does with DAZN should interest you.

Its just how it is right now. If boxing were a bigger sport in the US maybe promoters wouldn't be as necessary because a lot of them simply act as middle men for fighters. They are used to communicate how the ring should be, when to fight, who to fight, who showcases events etc. If boxing were a nationally excepted sport I could imagine the boxing system being more fighter friendly.
For example their would be boxing clubs inside of schools just like other sports, Fighters would have a easy system to move up the latter, and and the money would be in the hands of organizations that are more trustworthy.

I remember that 100% Showtime use to be the place you take step up fights before going to HBO and fighting bigger fights and becoming a bigger star. Things have changed for sure

Showtime used to always put on the fights for the hardcores, but HBO dominated in star power. Lets see if HBO gets back in the boxing game now that the merger is completed. Or lets see if they just abandon it for good. Hopefully it is the former and not the latter.
