This is illogical. The fact that Vitali never lost on a cut thereafter does not allow us to conclude that Lewis therefore was better than Vitali. The logical conclusion of that could be that Lennox was therefore better than anyone else Vitali has fought - no argument there, but this does not mean he was better than Vitali.

it is logical, logic being theres always an excuse when someones favourite fighter loses (weight wasnt right, lucky punch, called off too soon, dodgy scorecards, got a cut, head wasnt right, poor camp), he lost cause he wasnt good enough. if you know youre cut, put the pressure on and stop the guy in front of you ffs. people acting like the cut came out of of nowehre and it suddenly got called off. the cut was from a punch. if youre a great fighter you fight through adversity and win, you never saw mayweather losing cause he got cut lol.

Basically a boxer who was 3 months away from his 38th birthday with a 2 week notice after preparing for a totally different style heavyweight beat a heavyweight who had prepared for lewis and was in training....not only beat him but ripped his face apart who needed 60 stitches after the fight.
If you think a fight is decided with just 6 rounds boxed over a 12 round fight you shouldn't be on a boxing forum gumbo.

what u all seem to miss is that lennox caused the cut and opened it further with his punches. getting cut is part of the adversity a fighter suffers, cant just write it off 'oh well if he wasnt cut he might have won', well tough ****, he was, he didnt adapt (by defending it or getting lewis out of there) and within the rules of boxing lewis was the rightful winner. If youve got a problem with cuts and dont count it as a legitimate loss then take it up with the rulemakers, rather than writing some pseudo intellectual bull**** and telling me to grow up.

This is getting really fun! I'm not sure what you are proposing: that I write to rulemakers (who specifically?) and tell them what? To introduce the concepts of "legitimate/illegitimate wins"?

That win was legitimate. Conclusive? No way. Begging a rematch? Hell yeah. There was a massive hunger for the rematch and I remember reading many articles in major mainstream papers about the rematch. Why? Why couldn't everyone just say: "win is a win" and move on? Could it be because the questions have remained? Because people were not convinced that Lewis was better? Could it be because fans did not write off Vitali as another of Lennox's victims? That's what we are talking about while you are hung up on black on white formalities.
