There are so many variables in sports. And it’s perhaps worse in boxing, where bad decisions — if not flat-out corruption — make predicting outcomes a true gamble.
    Off topic but as you're Cuban I'm curious if you think Julio Cesar La Cruz can do well as a pro? I enjoyed his am fights but not heard much buzz for his pro career yet and he's already in his 30s.

          Speaking of fight predictions I suspect I ask you every year about joining the Pick Em League cos I think you'd make a great addition and every year you knock me back cos you ain't got the time to commit to it - but I'd be remiss in my duties if I didn't ask you again in 2023....

          And a belated Happy New Year to you too my old friend, hope '23 brings you good health, contentment and at least a little joy.

            That guy is uber-talented, but I’m not a fan of his Muhammad Ali-on-steroids style. I don’t see him doing well in the pros, as he would have to be virtually perfect with that approach. Not to mention, as you pointed out, his age.

              Haha Thank you, my brother. I’d love to join, but the whirlwind nature of my life hasn’t changed. Been playing any chess online?

              All the best to you and your loved ones in 2023! God bless you all.

                [QUOTE=juggernaut666;n26545220]

                Its not about failure its about safety . No logical or experienced lifter uses collars .

                Anybody that goes to an actual gym will be using olympic style bars so there useless anyway .

                -------------------

                People don't use them as they are lazy.

                I'm guilty myself of that.

                Sliding weights off is fine when you lift light, If you try to slide weights off when you have 160kg + on the bar you will soon have a 7ft bar flying across the gym and damaged shoulders.

                Many experienced lifters uses them. they aren't useles on Oly bars and they are required in every competition.

                  Been playing some but not quite as frequently - real life commitments have been taking up a bunch more of my time this last year and 2023 is looking to be even busier. I've been stepping up my participation in a few local community activities (you'll notice the fundraiser I'm doing in my sig for the youth club where I volunteer and I've recently taken on the promotions and social media role at our local repair cafe, as well as volunteering as a repairer)

                  I'm also getting qualified as a boxing for fitness instructor for kids and adults in a few weeks and looking to get a qualification so I can work as a paid Youth Worker - I'm finding the volunteering really rewarding and was figuring it was time for a bit of a career change anyway although I'll probably keep up the joinery odd-jobs and maintenance work as a sideline too.
