Only the idiots buy into this Hearn BS
I don't even care what promoter it is, Bob, Oscar, Floyd, people who believe everything a promoter says are the definition of gullible. I lol @ this legion of stooges who come on here to defend everything a promoter says. I wonder if they are also hardcore about their bank, their fave brand of beer, etc.

I don't even hate his deal. Dazn is irrelevant to me so I've nothing against it. I'm just laughing because I predicted that his "change boxing forever" claim was bullshyt (and these idiots tried to argue with me) and now they want to try to sell me on this idea that it's a great deal, as if they were paid by Hearn to say it. What clowns.

Joshua is out of a contract, I'm sure he'll get tied up to this as well. plus all sky fights incl ppv will be shown too.

I like the idea of building a great team, new broadcasters, experts etc. As well as tying up all the significant U.S talent. Imo he should go for:

Wilder, Charlo bros and Spence as the top priorities.
That's not going to work; fighters don't exist in a vacuum.

Signing Jermall Charlo would inherently mean that you'd also need to be able to get to Billy Joe Saunders (behind BoxNation/BT in the UK, and seemingly HBO in the US), and Alvarez/Golovkin/Jacobs/Andrade (all with HBO) to get meaningful fights, and that's before you even get to the guys with Haymon (Showtime) or Oscar.

Jermell Charlo is a good fighter, but he only makes sense if you can get Jarrett Hurd and the WBO 154lb champion also; Charlo with all of the belts would basically force every 154lb fighter to come to him.

Putting Spence behind a separate paywall makes fights against Thurman/Garcia (Showtime) or Pacquiao/Crawford/Horn (ESPN+) more difficult to make.

Joshua coming to this may be possible, but even Eddie Hearn has already gone public on his ceiling for this venture being $20m per event. Wilder-Joshua should easily generate over $50m on US PPV (@$60/$70, you're basically looking at needing 600k homes to top the DAZN money).

If the assumption is that Joshua never breaks 500k homes on US PPV, then great.

They don't need the rights to the country where the sports are based necessarily, because there is so much interest in top line sports all over the world. The NBA, NFL, and MLB to a lesser extent are popular in many markets all over the world. Same with the Premier League, La Liga, UEFA Champions League, and obviously boxing etc.

In the long term, the way a television network is designed leaves it at a disadvantage to an internet streaming service. They are always juggling with programming time, juggling sports, how much air time dedicated to each sport, convenience to the consumer, all problems eliminated by a good internet based streaming service. It is the future on how we will watch sports, and tv in general for sure. It will follow music, and movies.

It will take time, but centralisation, convenience and easy access of information is always the key.

In the short term I think with the financial backing Hearn has, he will have no problems making some high profile signings as well as collaborating and bringing together big fights on both sides of the pond. I think DAZN will continue to expand and move into further countries and bring them content that they normally not have access to.
I think you're drastically underestimating the costs related to your thinking, tbh.

With Showtime/CBS already streaming their content in conjunction with their broadcasts and having success with it, and Disney (ABC/ESPN) making their move, NBCUniversal and Fox Sports aren't that far behind.

They already have a million subscribers in Japan alone, and substantial subscribers in the other markets. They have the rights to Premier League and UEFA Champions League in Germany. This is big stuff.

Those streaming services in most cases require a subscription to the main channel or cable service, but they are impressive nontheless. Is there a conflict of interests though?

Does a stand alone Sports streaming service do better? Not sure. I think there are advantages and disadvantages to ESPN+ and similar services.

There are many angles to this, I think you need to look at this from a wider perspective, was the point of my original post.

Long layoffs or not, PBC is where all the good fighters are.

I don't want to watch Spence fight that crap that Jacobs have fought since leaving.

I don't give two ****s what Garcia does. One of the most overrated on here.

Exactly, people become so desperate as fanboys they delude themselves into defending anything and everything Hearn spews.

As I always say, the people who know and understand boxing know exactly what Hearn is...
The people who don’t understand will continue to drink the kool aid...

                  Showtime
                  HBO
                  ESPN
                  Spike

The last two I get with my cable subscription at no extra charge.

                  Danz?

How is this going to be distributed to the masses? Everyone doesn't have a smart TV - but everyone has a cable box or a dish.
