Joe Joyce is a top Amateur who is being fast-tracked as a Pro. He has the ability. He is also backed by Hayemaker Ringstar (David Haye and Richard Schaefer), so there's money behind him. They were willing to match Dereck Chisora's purse that he got in a European title shot, but Chisora rejected the offer. The reality is Joyce's team could probably offer a very good purse to any potential opponents. It doesn't matter that he's had 4 fights. Fighters are ducking him because they know they'd lose.

I get the impression that Joyce is more of a challenge than he looks.
This isn't difficult because he looks like crap, but I think he'll struggle to get good fights because the risk/reward is very poor with him.

If you look at the domestic scene, we have:
Dereck Chisora
Daniel Dubois
Nathan Gorman
Joe Joyce
David Price
Nick Webb
To name a few. Could make for a seriously entertaining UK boxing super series. But alas, the diva's in the group are too busy trying to cash out to consider taking entertaining, hard fights against rivals of a similar level.

Apart from the work rate and the power of Joe, don't see anything special in him (still too early I know), but in his last fight he looked super slow and sloppy to me.
If Hughie can use his jab good, IMO the result would be UD for Fury

It just looks very difficult to avoid having a big punch up with Joyce. Just so strong, so fit, so relentless. And obviously heavyweights are just a different breed due to the sheer amount of mass in the ring. They tire quicker, their punches have bigger effects, strength up close plays such a big role.
I like both Joyce and Miller for similar kinds of reasons.
I know Joyce got outboxed by Usyk in the super series but if that's the level of boxer it takes i'd argue there are none of those in the heavyweight division.
He's obviously fairly one paced but he has that weird power. The little cuffing shots where visibly hurting Thomas quite badly.
I think I remember reading he got caught cold in the amateurs once. But I suspect he's packing granite. You just wouldn't fight like he does, at the elite amateur level he has, at his age, if he wasn't able to hold a pretty big shot.

Listen if your not fighting on PPV or Fighting for a title you are not doing sht. Fury has no where to go but up and he needs to get him self out there. Huey can fight Bellew, Price, Stervine, Marco Huck, Jennings (who just came off a win), Ortiz, Charles (who lost his title to AJ) or a rematch to Parker. These handlers really think doing the baby steps will really help their fighters but it wouldn't.

I'm going to hazard a guess however that the answer isn't to dress him in a Mexican sombrero.
