Comments Thread For: Donnie Nietes Versus the Clock

by Cliff - SuperFly 2 is almost here and it's easily the best HBO card since, well, probably since the first SuperFly. This time, all of the televised action won't be in the 115 lb. division. Just three lbs. below super flyweight/Jr. bantamweight is the classic flyweight limit of 112 lbs. The last addition of the so-called original eight' weight classes, it's apparently still super enough...

Donnie is the consummate professional and I've been fortunate enough to see him 3 or 4 times in person my only fear is that by the time the average American boxing fan sees him he's going to be at the end of his career and all too often these very good Asian fighters who are not household names are greatly overlooked... Nietes is Head and Shoulders above everyone, but I believe the end is in sight for him and he realizes it ...he should be in the top 5 p4p, he is that good...

I misread the title as "Donaire Versus The Crook", and thought it was Pacquiao in the pic. :cringe1:

Once nietes retires nobody will remember him! He never tried to fight other champs in the division to unify! He avoided the top contenders! He cherry picked his opponents! Never been in a memorable fight! The best fighter on his resume is maybe Fuentes in he ain't all that good!

Nietes has a lot of skill and is fun to watch but when you mention guys like Porpramook (28-6, and 1-5-1 in title fights) among his best wins, it's easy to see why he is overlooked. Reveco is probably on the downside of his career but he still may be Nietes best win, if he beats him
