I'm an Alexander Povetkin fan doe. I'm just being honest! It'd be a very upsetting moment to see him brutally concussed / knocked out after the fight by Anthony Joshua with his life permanently damaged at the age of 38.

This is a serious question doe. I think Povetkin is far too small and weak to pose even the slightest of threat to Joshua and I say that as a big fan of Povetkin. I just think Povetkin doesn't even belong in the same ring as the likes of Anthony Joshua and should instead compete at cruiser weight or even light heavyweight. Don't want to see the small brave warrior get brutalized and be permanently damaged.

I've defended him over the PED nonsense because there are lots of misconceptions surrounding the issue. Including over the validity, accuracy and reliability of drug testing in the current era. I also believe he is a very brave boxer fighting in the heavyweight division against giants as a very small sized man who probably doesn't even belong in that weight division.

However, Alexander Povetkin is a 6 foot 1 boxer who is arguably a natural light heavyweight / cruiser weight without additional / extra weight in his body. He doesn't belong in the same ring with the likes of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury.

I personally believe Alexander Povetkin is asking for a death / suicide wish fighting against someone like Anthony Joshua. This might just be a gruesome public UK slaughter / execution awaiting the poor Russian. I don't want to see the poor guy badly torn apart, limb to limb and have his body divided into sequential parts by the astronomically stronger Anthony Joshua and appear like an executed / slaughtered animal

Povetkin lacks the punching power to be anything more than a minor nuisance to the significantly stronger, tougher and durable Anthony Joshua. Due to being a relative feather-fist. Joshua may just walk right through every one of Povetkin's weak feather fisted punches. Povetkin also lacks boxing skills to make up for his lack of size. Oleksandr Usyk would be a more challenging opponent for Joshua than Povetkin because he is taller, rangier, bigger and significantly more skilled.

This bout will again prove to the world and public how physically weak Russians are, compared to African Americans and African British just like how Ward proved how weak Sergey Kovalev is in comparison. I think it's about time Russians stop embarrassing and humiliating themselves in public as such weak humans trying to challenge the much stronger boxers.

I doubt this match would last more than 3 rounds and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Povetkin gets put to hospital in the very first round or even sent to his very coffin. He may just have his head decapitated by the first power punch or upper cut that Joshua lands flush.

Anthony Joshua is going to be FAR TOOOOOOOOOOO strong and powerful for the brave Alexander Povetkin who doesn't understand exactly what he's getting himself into. Povetkin is going to be totally manhandled, out muscled, dominated and treated like a little rag doll or a new born baby by the strongman Joshua.

All I can say to his fans is be careful what you wish for! This is one of the biggest proposed mismatches I've seen in awhile now.

Let's hope Povetkin doesn't get past David Price because he might even get destroyed by Price. But if he somehow does get past Price, be prepared for the public execution / slaughter to occur in the UK to the brave Russian Povetkin.

          Don't say I didn't warn ya!

So a former HW world champ that has only lost once, never been knocked out and consistently weighs around 230 pounds should move down to LHW? He didn't have any problems against big guys like Wach and Duhaupas and probably has the deepest resume of any current HW. If Povetkin is not good enough to get into the same ring as Joshua, then who is??

Povetkin is the more skilled fighter (he has to be... He's a midget in the modern HW division) but he's also pushing 40, grinded his way to the top

I simply don't think he will be able to sustain the energy to chase joshua around without taking too much punishment in exchange

Disgusting mismatch though? No. Classic skill/experience vs size/youth matchup. joshua is not the total package. He still looks like a roided up bodybuilder who "took up boxing" most of the time.

Put it this way it's closer than lewis vs tyson was (a fight with similar variables).

Sasha is one hell of a fighter!

Sasha is one of the most dogged and toughest boxers alive. He will never stop coming forward no matter how badly he got punched. I guess you haven't seen his fights against Wlad, Takam, Hasim Rahman and Charr. He is indeed one hell of a fighter! As an Olympic, European and World Championships gold medalist, he wholly deserve our result even in death. Sure, AJ will win if the two eventually meet, but I bet it won't be an easy fight for AJ. In fact, Sasha will be AJ's toughest opponent. Wlad had to repeatedly hug and push him around to win when the two met.

I'm one of the biggest Alexander Povetkin fan. But Anthony Joshua is not only just big, but is very athletic plus very strong. The only other time Povetkin faced such a boxer was Wladimir Klitschko, who he was rag dolled by and dragged all over the ring like he was a new born baby in comparison. Such was the mismatch!

I think this time against Anthony Joshua, Povetkin might end up genuinely having his life permanently damaged. He will end up being rag dolled even more easily by Joshua than by Wladimir Klitschko and Joshua will probably land some damaging punches that might really end Povetkin's life in the ring right there. Which is something I really don't want to see happening!

The only boxers who deserve and are qualified to face someone like Anthony Joshua are boxers who are much bigger than Alexander Povetkin and much stronger. Wladimir Klitschko was a worthy opponent for Joshua because he was relatively even in strength and size with Anthony Joshua but Alexander Povetkin is like an irrelevant ant / fly who wouldn't be anything more than a minor nuisance to someone as big and strong as Joshua. Joshua would probably swat Povetkin aside like he was a fly.

Telling Povetkin to face Joshua is like telling Andre Ward to gain 30 pounds of fat so he can become a heavyweight and face Joshua. It's totally unfair, dangerous and life threatening for the smaller boxer! Povetkin is naturally the same size roughly as Andre Ward without unnecessary fat and weight. The only reason why he was able to even be competitive at heavyweight was because of performance enhancing drugs. And I believe every boxer at the top level is using performance enhancing drugs. If he isn't allowed to use any performance enhancing drugs, there is no possible way he could make up for his significant size disadvantage and even be competitive.

Alexander Povetkin really is a fake heavyweight, just like David Haye is by modern standard. And the time for fake heavyweights like Povetkin is now over. Fake heavyweights like Povetkin pose almost 0 threat to real heavyweights like Joshua, Klitschko, Wilder and Fury. Joshua wouldn't even need to consider Povetkin as much of a challenge. Joshua doesn't need to take Povetkin seriously at all by not preparing much for a potential bout against him and could still literally end his life or permanently damage his life. Such is the mismatch!

Oleksandr Usyk would stand a much better chance at beating Anthony Joshua because he at least has much greater skills that can make up for his lack of size and strength. However, not only is Povetkin significantly smaller in size and weaker compared to Anthony Joshua, but doesn't have GREAT skills that he can use to make up for his lack of size and strength. Performance enhancing drugs may have helped him be a fake / artificial heavyweight temporarily. But naturally, the dude is no bigger than a light heavyweight and cruiser weight maximum. He's better off fighting the likes of Sergey Kovalev instead of even thinking about fighting someone as life threatening and dangerous as Anthony Joshua.

But this is for real! How is Alexander Povetkin going to survive the physical strength of Anthony Joshua close up or the extremely powerful short uppercuts that could very well permanently damage Povetkin's career?
