That's not strictly true. Most catchweights involve fighters moving up and the catchweight is set to make the fight more competitive.

which is more correct.... statement A, or statement B.... ?

and.... don't make me explain what " more correct " means

      Statement A:

      Statement B:

which is more correct.... statement A, or statement B.... ?

      or does Golovkin DKSAB ?

      for the record.....

this discussion is RIDICULOUS, imho..... you guys have completely embarrassed yourselves

I should be ashamed at myself for taking the bait, and spending so much time on this topic..... and I likely would be, if not for the fact that was pointed out by an earlier poster.....

that sometimes I am as happy as a pig-in-**** on this site

NO stories, what is more correct?.... just type A or B, then log off
Sorry to disappoint you. You will have to read a couple of sentences. Canelo has had at least 5 fights over the JM limit. The correct answer is A. By the way you keep saying that before he fought Golovkin he never weighed more than 155. He fought Chavez at 164.

Kinda new here but he seems to have a VERY smart boxing mind. But 155 is tech Middleweight.

their childish squirming is making me uncomfortable
Here is where you lose the plot, you keep using the word genuine, if someone fights at 154.1 then they are in the MW division, no ifs, no buts, it's really not that hard to understand, canelo fought at 164.5. That means he fought as a SMW, regardless of what you think in that fight he was a SMW, do you understand you balless gimp

In honesty, I think you guys are talking about completely different things. I haven't seen everything that was typed on this, but this is how it seems to me:

Looks like you (shape up) are trying to say that A BOUT which has the participants weigh in at 154.1 is in the middleweight division.

Seems that ABTFKNTIME is saying that just because A BOXER weighs in for that middleweight bout at 154.1, even repeatedly, that doesn't make THE BOXER a genuine middleweight.

Do you see the difference? I think on one side you are talking about the actual classification of the bout, and on the other is the classification of the fighter. I think you are both right and just talking about completely different things.

If the boxer fights in a division, for that fight he is classified in that division, it makes no difference if he wins, loses or draws, all it does is give bleeding hearts an excuse if he loses, as I've said before, if a fighter accepts a CW he only has himself to blame if he loses, ggg wasn't willing to accept a CW for a title fight and good on him for doing so, no title fights should be fought at a CW as far as I'm concerned, a CW is what started this circus in the first place

Once again, you show a lack of reading comprehension. I didn't just say "four years ago", I said "the past four years ", which encompasses the entirety of that time.

Either way, Canelo has only fought one welterweight in the last four years, and of course he lost that fight.

which is more correct.... statement A, or statement B.... ?

                    Statement A:
" 154.1 lbs is middleweight..... even if you are preparing to weigh-in at 155, to fight a JMW opponent "

                    Statement B:
IN ADDITION TO..... preparing to weigh-in at 160, to fight a MIDDLEWEIGHT opponent..... a fighter would need to be conditioned to making 160, to be regarded as a GENUINE middleweight

keyword = " genuine "..... because, Kell Brook scoffed cheeseburgers to weigh 159 for Golovkin

                    " ..... he's not a middleweight. He's just not..... "
~ Golovkin, immediately following the fight
