    By Cliff Rold - Listen to the true believers, the real hardcore Cult of Rigo types, and Cuba's lineal Jr. featherweight king Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KO) damn near walks on water. There is a cadre of writers and aficionados that see the man they think, deep down, is today's true best fighter in the world. Maybe for all of this generation. In another corner there are skeptics. They hear about a defensive maestro and wonder how he's suffered four knockdowns in eighteen pro fights...

      I do not think a Rigondeaux win would "shock" anyone. That is why this fight is so compelling. Rigondeaux is so amazingly talented that it is impossible to not respect the man. Only a handful of close minded haters think someone of the pedigree of his can't come up a couple of divisions and win if given enough time to train and diet correctly, which he has. Throw in Lomanchenko agreeing to a weigh in the day of to ensure he does not rehydrate unfairly big, and we have two premier talents setting up a 50/50 fight.

      I got Lomenchenko, and feel real comfortable saying that. But my world won't be shocked at all if Rigondeaux wins.

      Side note... it is near criminal that we have missed out on some great fights with Rigondeaux and some of the other talent around his division.

        If Rigo wins he will be a legend. He will be the Top Rank destroyer. Prime Donaire and Loma (were) are p4p caliber fighters. It can be his ultimate revenge on Arum who basically punished Rigo for being too good and destroying a potential cash cow in Nonito.

          I love Rigo but this fight is a really bad matchup for him even before you take the size difference into account. I don't think a result other than an emphatic win for Lomachenko is at all likely.

            If Rigo wins as I hope he will be a top PnP fighter abd a legend. Is not only for the winning and for moving up 2 divitions because aome otger have done that. The greatnest of Rigo is the way he dismantle the opponents. He has the best defense, amazong speed and really impressive power. He not only won nonito, he disassemble nonito. H3 was nullified with a lot of those techniques, and kn round 12 he broke his eye.
            One issue is the power. Lets see how he is at 130. I have never see lomachenko borken a jaw or an eye as Eigo have did to nonito, ****ens or the japanese

              Rigo turned down a fight with Loma years ago. Loma offered to go down to 124, as Rigo demanded, but after Loma agreed, Rigo demanded a rehydration clause too. Loma refused that and so Rigo said no and has basically done nothing in the meantime. That was his chance to become a legend.

              I know LSC, Frampton and others openly ducked Rigo, but that is boxing, and you have to dare to be great sometimes. I'm glad he finally is now, but he is almost 40. Also, 122 is too small for most people to care about. Sorry but its true. Kids in junior high are bigger than that. If he was/is as great as many believe- and he might be- he should have moved up to 126 and 130 years and years ago. If he can beat Loma at 130 at however old he is now, he could have moved up and stayed undefeated easily. He didn't. It is his own fault, his only legacy- win or lose on Saturday- is what could have been.

                  And I was wondering why the Cult of Lomacheko believes he walks on water and is the P4P best fighter in the WORLD, maybe ALL of this generation... And yet he has a LOSS to a journeyman with over a DOZEN losses.

                    BS!!! Lomachenko did an interview and said he would NOT do a CW.

                    "Currently we are in different weight classes. I offered him to move UP and fight in MY weight class, but HE (Rig) wanted to fight at a Catch-weight. Im ONLY interested at fighting at an OFFICIAL weight class"

                    That's from his OWN mouth. Not his trainer. Not Bob Arum. Not anyone else.
