Rigondeaux has to be on the back foot, concentrated, keep Lomachenko on the distance with longer reach and wide stance, look for opportunities for counterpunches, need some bodywork. Don't exchange, he's not that good on the front foot and agression might cause him trouble, if he has longer reach he has to use this advantage. Don't trade shots with a fighter who's better on the front foot than you and who's better at throwing combos than you. Try to break his rhythm, change the pace from fast to slow and back, Rigo is good at it

Lomachenko has to neutralize Rigo's left hand, keep in mind that Rigo doesn't use his right hand often, try to get on the inside because Rigo doesn't feel comfortable at close range, Lomachenko has to always move to the side to stay out of range of Rigo's left hand, apply smart pressure, the key is to get Rigo out of his comfort zone with constant smart pressure, he doesn't like to do much for winning. The pace of the fight has to be as fast as possible. Catch Rigo when he gets low trying to dodge punches, try to time his pivots too. Rigo reacts to every feint or false trap, so use them more to confuse

Rigo-Id tell him to apply pressure and keep Loma going backwards, if he wants to trade I feel it would be to Rigo's advantage as he has the faster hands and more precise punching skills.

Loma-Keep moving and turning Rigo and pepper him while moving in and out, hope to hurt him coming in or tire him out by making him work more then we wants to.
So your advice to Rigo is to go do what he is not best at, and your advice to Loma is to force Rigo to move which is arguably the better of the two at.

I agree about leaving out the low blows to the family ***els. But a few shots on the hips and thighs in close quarters are sneaky vet tactics that should be employed in fights of this magnitude between such highly skilled machines. Jmho.

If I am coaching Loma, I need him to establish his jab and punch in combination. Rigo is not usually a busy fighter, so activity might steal rounds that are basically equal. Come forward behind a jab, doubling it up occasionally to throw off counters. Trap Rigo on the ropes or in corners and flurry, then step off to a side when you are done, don't pose. Jab to Rigo's body, he is 37 so you need to make him feel his age.

If I am coaching Rigo, I want him to keep things in the middle of the ring. Circle, don't take more than two or three steps back. Go to the body early and often, and make those punches downstairs count. Later on, you can throw combos off the body shots upstairs. Either be all the way in or all the way out, stay out of the optimum range for punches, especially the jab, make Loma reach then counter hard. Use your reach advantage to make your jab the dominant weapon.

I'd tell Rigo to grow 6 inches and gain 30lbs. A good big man will always beat a good little man. I know the purists are salivating over this fight but Rigo is just to small. He's the smaller guy when he fights in his own division.
