Comments Thread For: Holyfield: Klitschko Brothers Hurt Division, Now It's Coming Back

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield does not believe that the heavyweight division has ceased to be the main attraction of the sport of boxing, but he does acknowledge that one of the reasons why it stopped being so is due to two characters, brothers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko. He says the Klitschko brothers made the division less attractive and most fans focused their attention on the lower weight divisions.

They refused to fight each other and took the titles hostage in Germany, now the titles are spread everywhere and no one wants to leave their turf.

        BS

Boxing in itself hurt the heavyweight division, the sport does nothing but shoot itself in the foot.

Yes it's coming back due to talent but boxing will find a way to make is obscure again

It was 2 dominating boxers. There was no way they should've fought, they're brothers. It's more interesting when it's only 1 sole dominant boxer because it's at a slower pace compared to the 2 Klitchsko brothers beating this guy here and there.

How is that different than a boxer doing the same thing here in the states?

The heavyweight division has had no exciting or loud personalities for the longest time. It's even weaker now, with a few pretenders here and there.

The Mayweather era has overshadowed the division, as well, and focused more attention on the lower divisions.

It isn't entirely on the Klitschkos.

Totally agreed. No two brothers should be forced to fight.

There was no interest in watching unathletic, slow, boring ass Eastern Europeans. The Heavyweight division is for the Brothers!
