New York State Athletic Commission wont sanction Wilder vs. Ortiz

I think a lot of people complaining about the Stiverne fight dont realize the NYSAC won't sanction the Ortiz They just paid out $22 mil to Magomed Abdusalamov. If they sanctioned the fight and something happened to Wilder that $22mil would seem like a drop in the bucket compared to what they'd have to pay out to Wilder's family. They know going into the fight that Ortiz failed a drug test they're accepting liability if something were to happen to Wilder.

Oh damn, didn't even think about that..

But, does it matter that a state commission wouldn't sanction it if the WBC already ruled Ortiz was out? Or you meant as a non-title bout?

Good, now ban this guy for two years. They have to start hammering these bastards hard.

They aren't going to do sh^t I'd be willing to bet. Povetkin got popped & all they did was ban him for WBC title fights. The other abc groups didn't even do likewise as far as I know. Let alone commissions or anyone else who could prevent him from fighting for some period of time or indefinitely.

This Clean Boxing program has little teeth beyond the WBC & based on this news the state or country the fight was being held in I'd assume. But moving forward I won't be surprised if we see Ortiz fight this year still.

I see what you mean. They can't risk sanctioning that fight. It really doesn't matter since the WBC would take Wilder's title away unless he fights Stiverne next. That title is too valuable for Wilder to give up.

People seem to forget that even Stiverne failed a drug test end of last year, how is the commission sanctioning him?
