Comments Thread For: Wilder: I Don't Want to Hear Luis Ortiz Is Old After I Beat Him

NEW YORK Deontay Wilder wants even his harshest critics to be fair. Now that what is expected to be the most difficult fight of his career is official, the unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion doesn't want to hear any excuses. The last thing Wilder wants to hear is that Luis Ortiz is old, not nearly the threat he once was, as they head toward a November 4 fight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

That's all you'll hear Deontay. That's all they're talking about already.

        Fact of the matter is:
        1) Wilder accepted his mandatory shot vs. Bermane Stiverne when everybody questioned whether his chin would be able to stand up against a massive puncher that dented Arreola's chin twice and took his soul.
        2) Wilder not only accepted a fight against Alexander Povetkin, but flew to Povetkin's home country to fight, even though he was the beltholder. Povetkin's repeated drug usage was the only reason that fight got canned.
        3) Wilder has now accepted a fight against the most feared man at heavyweight, if not the entire sport of boxing, Luis Ortiz.

Haters will continue to hate, but Wilder has proven time and time again that he is not only willing to fight the best, but demands it. Win or lose, he has shown no fear.

A win over Ortiz propels his resume past the Klitschko bros.

Wlad lost to the 2 best fighters he fought, the Pedvetkin fight was a farce and Haye got exposed by Bellew, Vitali's resume is extremely thin with either Chisora or Arreola? as his best wins.

Ortiz is old and past it... would have been something if u fought him after he ko'd Jennings and was calling u out a few yrs ago. Instead u have a pathetic string of voluntary defenses in a Barn in Hicksville, Alabama and cement ur title as the MOST unpopular multi year US HW Champ EVER!! Cong****!!

Ur seriously making wilder out to be something he's not. Worse fighters then Ortiz have given wilder problems. And 37 y.o Lennox Lewis is a better name then anything wilder's got

I see too much athleticism, length, and stamina for Ortiz, but Wilder deserves all the credit in the world, especially if it's a KO.
