He had a short career, 10 years. If they would have brought him up properly, he had another 4-6 years or making million dollar paydays.

His net worth is 500k. He's broke because they threw him to the rows too early. Forget about your appetite for violence, if you love boxing you have to wish the best for the fighters.

His fight with Tito shortened his career. And the loss to Oscar affected him hard mentally. But I think he was never the same after getting busted for PEDS for that fight. So he was partly to blame in damaging his own career.

Not mishandled...manhandled by Tito and then passed around like a ***** to DLH.

Thats what happens when you think making mean faces and acting like a cholo will make you a hero against someone like Tito.

Tito did not give a fck about Fernando making mean faces...he just knocked him the fck out.

first 10 seconds of round one, and Vargas was on his ass from a Tito hook to the mouth.

This tough MoFo reminds me a lot of myself. I only care about greatness. I always aim to be great. That's the only thing that can motivate me. I see no point in participating in meaningless endeavors. I take unnecessary risks sometimes and that's my downfall.

Let me simplify those words above to y'all: If I was b*tch and fought like a b*tch, I would still be undefeated. Life in general would be easier too. Problem is I ain't a b*tch.

          Mad respect for El Feroz

If he wasn't ready for Trinidad then he shouldn't have won a world title. When you are the champion of the world that is supposed to mean you are the best fighter in the world at that weight. It doesn't mean you are the best in the world except for a really good fighter like Trinidad. A champion who refuses to fight another champion his weight for a fair money offer is a chicken champion. Vargas was not a chicken champion. A true fighting champion fights the best with no certainty that he won't get knocked out. It wasn't in Vargas's character to refuse to fight Trinidad and I doubt his manager could have talked him out of fighting Trinidad.

Yes, it may be detrimental to a fighter's career (and health), but his mind set was old school. He thought he was the best so he fought the best opponents like a true champion. When I read about pampered belt holders like LSC who want a tune-up because he doesn't want to risk losing his title due to ring rust, or reneges on a rubber match across the pond against Frampton, it makes me vomit.

Ive been hearing this for years but i dont agree. One person started this whole " mishandled " thing and everybody started repeating it.

Every fighter enters their prime and peak at different times. Vargas was taking names at an early age and the way he was progressing, a fight with Tito was only natural. Who else was he supposed to face ?

                  Vargas was managed well imo..

An ytime you got those first 4 names on your resume in the first 24 fights that's pretty damn fast to me. 3 hall of famers and one really solid fighter.

By today's standards he'd be fighting a Indongo type champion at fight 25 for a title then milking it 2-3 fights before defending against another guy considered a threat

Ehhh meant to edit first post not respond to myself lol
