Let them use 8 ounce gloves. It's a special unusual match-up. Boxing is already dangerous, a couple of ounces won't make that much of a difference. Either McGregor is going to look awful or fantastic. People don't know how Mayweather will be at the age of 40 now, and can Conor be effective and deadly at boxing. The mystery and curiosity factor is a large part of what's selling the fight.

I mean, what if Mayweather ends up destroying the guy and he has long lasting effects? They'd get dragged through the courts and made to pay up. What if it was worse? NSAC could be looking at a charge of corporate manslaughter.
It's reckless and there's no need for it other than fighters ego.
Why would it mean **** in regards to Conor's health whether the gloves are 8oz or 10oz? Not only would it make such a small difference that it would be negligible, but even if it did make a difference it would only mean that Conor would be slightly easier to knock out. Increased worries about harm or death seem incredibly silly.

If I was Conor, a boxing novice, and I got permanently ****ed up in a fight against a 49-0 professional that they commissioned with 8oz gloves that they allowed, I'd take them to the cleaners. And I'd win.
