I've acknowledged that his resume isn't great. They said the same thing was said about Hopkins before the Tito fight. And they were right. That said all of these guys aren't "cans" as you say. It isn't simply that he has beat them he's destroyed them. Anybody can go to boxrec and look up stats, people who know boxing can see quality even if their opponent isn't elite. This is the same in every sport. If the Golden State Warriors are playing the worst team in the NBA you can acknowledge the opposition is lacking but you can still see that the Warriors are great. How good will be determined when they play another top team. This is Golovkin's chance to show how good he is against a top fighter. Same with Canelo.

I'll make this argument too as I have on other sites, Golovkin's resume the last two years is better than Canelo's. He has faced tougher opposition.

Canelo has always been the A side. You can be A side and get 55% or 85%, they are both A sides. If by younger you mean he could just wait it out and Golovkin would come begging that's risky. First Golovkin could lose or he could move up. I think he was frankly getting tired of the games and if the fight wouldn't have happened this year he'd have moved up.

I'm fairly sure Golovkin is getting a better deal than he would have last year. Golovkin profile has increased and Canelo has taken a lot of flack in the PR department. It has not been well received among many of his fans and countrymen when he dropped the belt.

Again making the case that Canelo is getting a better percentage now against Golovkin doesn't add up. Arguing the fight is bigger and thus they'll all make more money even if he has to give more to Golovkin, that makes more sense.
Obviously, the fight is happening because canelo wants it to happen. If canelo didn't want the fight because he was unhappy went the money split, guess what the fight wouldn't be on. Canelo easy has 7-10 years of boxing if not more left in the tank. Ggg is on his way out. If it wasn't ggg who was next, he could of found another "mega fight" in the future. Time is on canelos side as the a side and I can't stress that enough, it was take it or leave it for ggg and he took what was offered. Selling 170k ppv compared to over a million in canelos case... that doesn't do any good for ggg leverage at the table. With those numbers. To be honest, warrants a 17 to 83 split in favor of canelo. But I doubt he got that low of a split. More in the 75-25 range or 70-30 at best for ggg. Still the fight is done now and ggg and his hype can be put to rest in a month.

Ok, the man is 35! About time he fought at least some b level people. This his first real test. I don't count Jacobs. Their is levels in everything and canelo is a whole new level that ggg Will experience and can't say the same for canelo as he has been in there with one of the all time greats, he lost, but still got that experience out of it...

The fight is signed and it's going to happen. And after all the **** you've been talking, you are going to close your account when its over and open a new one, whether I bet with you or not. I'm pretty sure you have already had to do that at least once before.

Wait and see sucker, and get the ejector seat ready again, because you are going to need it.

Canelo lost (pretty much every round) to a great fighter, therefore he will defeat Golovkin!

But he got that experience doe!

I believe Canelo always wanted this fight, I don't believe DLH wanted this fight earlier. I'm not sure DLH wants this fight now but it is much better today than it was for him last year. He likely thinks the way you do, not the way Canelo does.

You have to understand Mexican boxing culture (or just culture) to understand why Canelo actually needed this fight. Canelo is Mexico's favorite fighter right now. That said there are still questions about him. When he dumped his belt that did not go over well in Mexico. It didn't go over with a lot of fans who let him hear about it. The guy is on social media, he was getting bashed day after day. Canelo IMO isn't afraid and this did legitimately bother him. When he called out Golovkin the first time I believe he wanted that fight. DLH said not so fast kid.

Canelo isn't all about money, he couldn't hold up his head the way he wants by dumping a belt to avoid a fighter and saying there were other money fights out there and that's why I didn't face Golovkin. The excuses that were given weren't flying. This fight works out for all involved because it has had time to grow. But not for one second do I believe that Golovkin is taking a worse deal than he would have had last year. His PR has risen, Canelo's PR stayed flat. The only reason the Chavez fight was dismissed so quickly was because the Golovkin fight was made. If Canelo is facing Cotto 2 he is getting absolutely hammered in Mexican media and he also fails in making himself a legit big time star (like Mayweather or Pac).

Canelo didn't need this fight financially, he needed this fight for himself.

If getting a boxing lesson from Floyd Mayweather puts a guy on a higher level than GGG, how come Berto and Guerrero are still bums?
