Just for argument's sake, let's say that Floyd is guaranteed $100m, while UFC/Conor are guaranteed $50m; assuming the only money coming to the fight is from PPV, 3.5m PPV buys more than covers everything.

Except now, you've got the live event money (gate, sponsors, closed circuit, merch, etc; once everything is counted you're likely talking about a $50m net), international TV (UK/Ireland likely brings the most money, but the fight will be featured in basically every TV market possible; $20m off of international TV isn't unheard of), and other revenue streams to consider besides PPV.

With all of the non-PPV money, you're likely at needing to draw 1m-1.2m PPV homes to cover the guarantees to both camps (getting everyone ridiculously paid) before starting to count the upside money.

Will the fight do 5m PPV homes; unless McGregor is the most epic **** talker in combat sports, or footage/information gets out that makes folks think that McGregor could legitimately win, I doubt it.

Thing is, it doesn't have to to 5m PPVs; with all of the money coming in on the fight, even at 3m homes, Mayweather and UFC/McGregor would still be splitting $250m-$300m between them. Both sides get their guarantee, and then still split another $100m+ on the back-end.
